What's your mileage and should I replace my Equus?

I bought my Equus used close to 4 years ago and am now nearing 70k miles while just about ready to pay off the five-year loan. With WFH continuing until at least September, I'm rarely driving. More importantly, outside of the typically incompetent Hyundai dealerships and the slow Bluetooth connection, I have no real complaints. Despite this Equus getting old, I still really like it. The size is great for a kiddo, it steers like a boat but has plenty of speed, quiet, and comfort, and it may just be me, but I really appreciate the looks.

Currently, I don't see the reason to replace it with a newer and more expensive Benz or BMW. I am thinking I can keep this as the kid-hauler and nab a two-door for more spirited driving.

I'm curious what your mileage is and what issues you have had. My warranty is out in another 5k miles and I do not anticipate being happy with constant maintenance. How many are in the 100k-150k range and what issues have you had?

I'm at 75K. The only issue I've ever had was a fuel injector stuck open on bank 6 @ 58K. This was covered under warranty, so no out-of-pocket expenses. Everything else has been "normal maintenance" related.

At 125k. Much maintenance has been done in the last 20k. Alternator! OMG. Couldn't find anybody that wanted to do it. I ended up spending 3 days on it myself. Nightmare of a place for an Alternator. Then front air suspension. Another 3 day gig for me. Unless your mechanically inclined. By equus. Just those 2 jobs would've ran $5k for a shop or dealer

My equus is a 14 signature. I'm about to near in 70k miles. No issues at all in my ownership just normal maintenance. Oil changes at 5k, premium gas and additional additives regularly. Trans fluid, coolant and rear diff fluids have been changed as well. I have warranty for another 40k miles so no worries, I would keep the equus. Not too many of them out there plus the vehicle will be paid off, a huge plus. Nice car and some extra cash can't beat it.. people ask me all the time what is this car.

Very simply, I wouldn’t keep any car these days without warranty protection. Too many things can go wrong. Expensive things!

I have 110k miles on my 2011 Equus. Around 88k miles I had an air strut or shock whichever it is go out, my incompetent Hyundai dealership told my extended warranty company it wast the strut, they said replace the controller first. The dealership replaced the controller and it did not fix the issue so I got a new controller along with a new strut. Prior to my 100k warranty expiring the rest of the struts were replaced. The air suspension is the weak point, you can get an extended warranty for around $1500 and keep your Equus for years to come. I have had no other issues, everything works just as it should.

The car has been paid off since 2017....so I am enjoying the time without a car payment
Some people say put a couple of hundred dollars a month in an account for repairs on a paid off car...it is much cheaper than a car payment AND the value that a newer car would be losing

Great financial advice, but the fun factor is much diminished when driving around an old vehicle that lacks many bells and whistles of the newer models.

True...and there is the whole " new car" thing as well

However..I still say that my 10 year old Equus has many features/attributes that even a mid price car doesnt have today
When I say features and attributes I am including its full size and its V8...both of which I prefer

So..for me it would be a G90 comparison for the most part
I actually the Equus rides better on a smooth road than the G90 does. Probably due to the air suspension

Financially..a full size luxury sedan is probably the biggest loser out there in regards to lost value

94,000 miles. - other than normal items (oil, tires, brakes). The air suspension has been repaired 2x. The first time all four struts and bags and the 2nd time just one of the rear bags. Had to do the Alternator and two batteries.
