  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

About 2 yrs ago I hit a short curb at a slow speed. I noticed a humming noise after that, which I attributed to a bad wheel bearing/hub. I recently decided to replace it as I felt the vibration was just slightly worse. I bought a new OEM hub off ebay. I installed it yesterday and it seems to have gotten worse. I get a pronounced hum at 54 mph. I went to the tire store for a rotation/balance and they recommended new tires as they're near their end. Ordered them and going back tomorrow for install. After that I'll try to schedule an alignment. What would the chances are of a defective hub out of the box? I'm tempted to buy an aftermarket hub and swap it out to rule out that out. What would you guys check next?

I have replaced three wheel bearings, but the noise that I had left with the bearing. ;) I had some water get into my parking brake, rusting the drum and rubbing on the shoes. This made an annoying rumble. I replaced the drum/disc. I have not replaced a drive shaft or any CV joint.
Perhaps you could provide more details about the roar, and your curb damage. Could it have bent your disc splash shield or an under panel?
Humans tend to associate unrelated phenomena. This helps us make sense of things that don't make sense. Are you confident that this noise manifested immediately after your collision?
