  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2022 GV70. I bought a set of CRW 18" wheels to mount the winter tires on. As the summer wheel bolts are a ball seat and the CRW wheels require a conical seat I have to buy a set of wheel bolts. My tire guy can't find them and beyond the M14x1.5 thread pattern I am not sure of the specs. The dealer tells me theirs are back ordered 3-4 weeks which isn't ideal at this time of year here north of Toronto. any advice ?
Thanks

Shank is 40mm.

Ok - thanks. So the shank length will stay the same with the after market wheels ? The head on my stock bolts is 21mm. A lot of the bolts I see online are 17mm but the opening in the winter wheels are smaller so if it works that would help. I am not sure that I can go down to 17mm heads though ?

Theoretically yeah, but stuff gets weird sometimes. I had to space my winter wheels 6mm in the front and 5 in the back, so you'd think 45mm shank bolts, right? Wrong. They interfered behind the hub somewhere. I put the stock bolts back in, just fine. I had to cut my 45s down to stock length and they're fine. It might be because with conical seats sit slightly closer to the hub than ball seats.

My aftermarket lugs are 17mm head, it doesn't matter what size the stock ones are, it matters what the bore of the holes in the wheel are. Typically, aftermarket conical studs will simply fit aftermarket wheels with a conical seat. I've never had an issue with aftermarket not fitting head size wise, on anything.

If I were you I'd just order the lug bolts on Amazon, get a couple different sizes, I'd say 40 and slightly smaller just in case. You can return the ones you don't need, or you can return them both and get some better quality ones if you wish. Make sure that you can put the bolt in and spin the wheel the whole way around, both front wheels and back wheels.

I just purchased aftermarket rims for my 3.5t and they told me to purchase these. The rims I purchase were RWC rims

DAI - Lug Bolts 17mm / Conical / Black / 14x1.50

I think there is different bolt pattern for the 2.5 and 3.5 sport.

Need to get the rims and bolts to test fit.

Thanks - this helps. I wasn't sure if the hex size mattered in terms of fit. I am good going down to 17mm. I know the brakes are bigger on some of the 3.5 models so that would be a factor.
I will give these a go and hopefully problem solved !

The bolt pattern and thread are the same on all GV70s, center bore as well.

So the wheel site replied to me about the lug bolts.

"The original bolts will NOT work, they must be a conical shape"

Hope this helps.

Rims and tires should be here middle of the week. I'll let you know how the test fit goes

I guess I never outright said this but I did heavily imply it. If you use ball seats in conical seat wheels it can crack the seats.

The wheels I put on required conical bolts but the M14x1.5 with a 40mm shank were too long and hitting something in the rear. Had to use bolts with a 30mm shank which fit and torqued down fine. The oem bolts have a 40mm shank but the threads only run about 35mm-37mm or so. The remaining area is just bare. I also think the conical bolts sit deeper in the wheels than the oem bolts which affected them not clearing in the rear.

Thanks - that picture just clarified all my confusion!!

I recently repurposed four Hyundia Santa Fe summer rims into beautiful winter rims for my 3.5 Sport Plus. This requires 5mm wheel spacers due to the large brake housing in the front. Doing so I had to find a suitable bolt to make up for the additional thread. Unlike the OEM bolts which are not threaded the full length of the shank, the aftermarket bolts was fully threaded. FYI: I found an excellent source for wheel bolts. It's: lugnutguys.com
You will find what you want...Just be careful to order what your GV70 needs
