  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,

New member here! I've been lurking around the forums for some time, but just now registered.

I've searched the forums looking for someone with the same setup I am currently interested in. I was able to find some similar setups, but not the exact one I am hoping to use. My car is a 2016 3.8L RWD Genesis (Empire State Gray) with no modifications. I was wondering if anyone thinks I will have a problem with the following wheels/tires in a square setup.

TSW Portier 20" MATTE GUNMETAL W/GLOSS BLACK LIP
20" x 8.5" +40 Offset
255/35R20 Tires

Thanks in advance for any advice!

no you will not. i will be getting 20x8.5 et35 offset with 245/40/20

Sweet!

I'd like to get 245/40/20 tires, but the 1"+ over OEM diameter scares me. Let me know how it goes!

I did a comparison between the two tire sizes. Since its my daily driver, i wanted a bit more meat for protection. 35 tall tires will most likely kill my ride comfort and increase the risk of a bent rim

I have been running 245/35/20 on 10" wide up front and same tire on a 10.5" in the rear for the past 2 years and haven't had an issue. Feel like 35 series provides plenty of meat and protection for the wheels but it is all personal preference for ride comfort. Just drive smart and pay attention to the road. If you have quality wheels it will take a big hit to damage/bend them.

Thanks for the input xiaphin. It's reassuring to hear that you haven't had any issues for 2 years with those tires, especially since the new rims are currently being shipped to my house. They should be here later today!!!

I think I'm going to go with 255/35/20 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires. I'll probably keep the stock wheels/tires as well and maybe throw them on the car from January through March.

Hey

I just installed my wheels today and I am running 245/40 and 275/35. It is ACTUALLY smooth. I am impressed. It is quiet too.
I have received alot of head turns today. So far so good.

Ok for those not looking to lower the car, 245/40/20 tire size is your answer. Front barely touches the fender and rear sits as if it was lowered on springs. I have about 1/2 inch wheel gap in the rear and about 3/4" in the front.

I have about that much gap too....I would like to SLAM it BUT fender rolling will be needed.
:(

If slammed fender roll/slight pull recommended with fender liner modification/removal as well for the fronts.

Got mine installed over the weekend and went with 255/35/20 tires. I can't really tell a difference in ride quality but can definitely tell a difference in road noise. Kind of wish I had gone with the 245/40/20 tires now...

You should feel the car picks up a bit faster. The 40 height gives a bit more cushion. 255/35/20 is a good tire size for our cars but you need a mild drop to finish it up

I notice the acceleration is faster and my MPGs are better a bit (it keeps fluctuating at a red light weird I know but it is not bad).
No noise at all. I am happy about that.

Maybe not SLAMMED but man tucked. I see i will have to remove the lining I guess. :( Is this something you could do?

Yeah, 255/35/20 isn't too bad, but it does leave a gap. I would love to drop it a little but I worry how it will affect my 10yr/100,000 mile warranty. On top of that, I'm having trouble finding any springs that will do a minimal drop. It looks like ARK GT-F's might do the job, but their website says there is no drop when those are used on a 3.8L RWD.
