  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
Been driving around already in +20C weather and i dont hear the fan ever kick in or notice it. I've popped the hood and watched for 5 minutes didnt kick in either. Was wondering if maybe it needs to be warmer out to start running.

Engine isnt overheating or anything but just wondering because i dont remember it coming on last year either in +30 weather. maybe ill keep an eye on it. My 2005 Honda accord the thing would come on every 20 seconds or so for 10 seconds was really annoying.

don't know specifically for the Genesis 1G, but most cars have a 220° t-stat, so the fans come on when the water temp exceeds 220°

outside temp isn't really a way to measure what you are asking, you need to know what the water temp in the engine/radiator is and what the settings for the t-stat and fan relay to open are.

Only time mine came on was after driving in traffic at over 32C/90F If it came on other times I did not notice it. The cooling system seems very adequate.

Thought so. Been a solid car so far. Pretty reliable. Made my Honda accord seem like a Ford.

I was playing with my obd2 bluetooth deal last summer and I wanna say it kicked on after 200* F, i think it was around 210*. Also factory thermostat is 180*

Sounds about right from a temperature perspective. What was the car doing at the time? Does it go off at a certain speed? First time mine went on that I noticed was after the car was shut off and very hot on a hot day. It ran about 5 minutes.

I was sitting in traffic on a 95* day, it kicked on and off a few times, once I started moving it went back down to it's normal temp in the 190's.

I have an ultragauge blue or something like that. It's alright but if i had to buy it again i'd probably get a ELM327 and use the Torque app
