  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Owner of a brand new 4.6 (as of 5 hrs ago)...I'm sure this has been asked and answered a million times, but where can you get your hands on the winged emblem and wheel caps? I see several installation threads, but nothing about "where to buy".

Many thanks.

Hello enjoyingsilence, would you happen to know if the chrome strips on the bottom will work on the V6 as well?

Be careful that any wheel caps you order have the scalloped edges vs. the round edges. The V8 wheels are different.

I have yet to see a part specifically to replace the center cap on the V8 wheels. I suspect you may be able to use the centercap from the lower end 17" wheels (the ones that come on the base model V6), but I am not 100% sure. I was hoping to see some confirmation on this soon now that the V8s are in showrooms and garages across North America.

No, I do not know... Sorry. I only know, based on the lil bit of info. I've read here where you can acquire at least a version of what the OP originally requested.

I think you are correct. I have ordered and received the 17" centercaps and they are the same size. The flying H caps are glued to the 18" V8 center hubs and will need to be pried off of them. The 17" caps will have to have their long plastic mounting pins removed/cut(this does not appear to be a problem) and then the caps should be able to be glued in place of the originals. My dealer has offered to do several mods for me(including the rear wing emblem installation) and I will report back once this has been attempted.

Regz37,

How did your winged wheel cap upgrade go? Are these the same wheel caps I see advertised for about $40.00?

The upgrade was completed earlier this week and was done by my dealer. Interestingly, the flying H center caps installed in the factory V8 center wheel covers are bare metal glued into each cover with no plastic backing unlike the 17" Genesis wheel caps that you refer to(the $40.00 ones).

The dealer sanded/ground down the long and short plastic pins on back side of the 17" caps(that was not a problem) and then glued the caps with their shaved down plastic backings into the wheel covers. They look good in my opinion(and that of my dealer) but don't fit entirely flush within the wheel cover space as did the flying H caps.

If there were a way to totally remove the plastic backing from the 17" Genesis caps resulting in the only the metal cap portion being left, the fit would be perfect.

I'm awaiting pictures from my dealer and will post them once I receive them so forum members can decide if this is worth doing to their 4.6's.

After waiting for the pictures from my dealer without success, I took some shots of my V8's wheels with the 17" caps installed in the way mentioned in the quote above. They are attached.

Hope this gives forum members a good enough view of this modification.
