  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm as fussy about the garage as I am about the car. Here's where I park it (it shares space with my wife's G35 coupe); on the right are the cleaning supplies.

Lives in garage while in NJ but unfortunately in parking lot at the condo in SC.

dg_moore very cool. I love clean and organized and it looks like your garage is just that. Very cool.

Keeping a garage tidy is especially challenging in Minnesota. We have Temps From -40 to 105. --- We have to be ready for everything.

Mine resides next to the wife's 08 Vette - also Black on Black. Both are in the garage. We keep a beater 07 Malibu Maxx outside.

You people with the spotless, organized garages obviously have deep seated psychological issues...

And I, for one, am jealous! :D

My garage is a nightmare!

Jamie

You betcha. I've found that my deep seated psychological issues help me a lot! :) I wouldn't trade them for anything and I'm almost as anal as they come. :)

ckon- that garage is sweet! Almost laboratory like. Holy cow...

My Genesis sits outside because I have acquiesced to my wife for her to park her car in the garage for the sake of maintaining domestic tranquility.

Also, my garage is, even despite my best efforts, continually in need of cleaning and refurbishment and lacks the space to put two cars in it. Too much crap! Too many hobbies that I have too mcuh space allocated to and too little time!

Thanx. It takes a constant vigil to keep non-garage items from coming to live in there. Fortunately for me, my first house (too many years ago to admit to) had no basement and no garage, so we pretty much got in the habit of getting rid of things we didn't really need. So when we finally had a garage the first rule was (and still is) THE CARS GO IN FIRST and we've managed to make that stick. :) There are also three cabinets in there that hold the other odds and ends and the bikes are on the wall.

ckon - I'd love to have your garage. Looks like you could park 3 cars in there. I had mine built when I remodeled the house and I should have gone with my gut and demanded a larger garage. The builder was going for looks.

Believe it or not this is a condo. The garage and a proportionately large basement were two of the big selling points for me. I'd say you could call it a 2 1/2 car garage. I park the cars sideways inside there (one at a time of course :) ) to work on them. Keeps me and the cars out of the wind and sun so they don't dry too fast. My neighbors think I'm nuts, but I'm used to it. :)

Pretty amazing garage. From the pic, it looks like there's room for a car between the Genny and the SUV at the far end, in addition to the space closest to the camera.

No, the "space" between the two cars is just an illusion, probably a result of the fact that the pic was taken with a wide angle lens. There's less than a door's width between them.

BTW, for anyone who wants to really dress up their garage I HIGHLY recommend RaceDeck flooring. Mine's been down for five or six years and still looks great. It's definitely the most striking thing everyone notices first. It's extremely durable, can be purchased in different colors and is a "snap" to install, both literally and figuratively. Costco sells it in black, white and gray and RaceDeck on-line sells many different colors and configurations. It installs and uninstalls so easily that you can even take it with you if you move.

Hmm ckon I thought your floor had an expoy coating...I priced the flooring from Costco and the cost of an epoxy finsish and the cost contest was a wash. I had my floor epoxy coated and it looks great. It's just kind of a pain to keep clean. Your a good advertisment for the Costco product. I didn't think the Costco product would hold up over time.

How old is your floor? I've seen many that looked very good when first applied that didn't fare as well after a few years. Hopefully yours does well. It was the failures I saw that made the RaceDeck floors appeal to me. I had also tried a rubber mat that Sam's Club sold. It was okay but would never stay flat due to slight irregularities in the floor. At least it was easier to clean that concrete.

One other point in favor of RaceDeck is that I parallel park my car or truck sideways in the garage when I work on them. The truck is full-time 4WD and puts great stresses on the floor when maneuvering it into position due to the angle of the front wheels. When the floor was brand new and still had a little "extra" grip on the surface, steering the truck into position actually ripped one of the floor tiles right up from the center of the floor which takes a HUGE amount of force. I was amazed that no damage was done to the tile or the ones that surrounded it. I just hammered everything back into place and all was well. The stuff is incredibly tough!

Yeah, I figured that from your comment about a 2 1/2 car garage. It's cool the way focal length distorts appearance like that. This would definitely be a great shot to use should you ever want to sell your condo.

I like the fact that your garage doesn't have any poles that break up the space. We have a three car garage too, but there are metal supporting poles between the parking spots. I always wonder what would happen if I were to hit one of them driving in!
