  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For some reason, between yesterday and today, my G70 stopped doing its little goodbye song when I turn the car off. Instead, I'm just getting a couple of lame dings.

I looked through the settings and I saw "Welcome Sound" which is on, and it's not giving me that either. I tried turning it off and on, but still no goodbye song.

Am I missing something here?

if the windows, door, or sunroof are open you get the ding and not the tune. .

if the battery in your key fob is low (found this out today) you get that alert when you turn off the car instead of the tune.

I thought that perhaps it was because something was open, or the lights were on, or something to that effect, but I checked everywhere and everything seemed fine. Maybe I should look in the LCD when I turn the car off and see if it gives me some kind of message.

I figure I could also try disconnecting the battery, but then I would lose my radio presets, have to reconnect my phone, etc.

I wouldn't think the fob battery would be low. The car is all of 3 weeks old, but I could do a test with my other fob and see if it's the same.

All in all, I believe this might be the dumbest problem in the history of car-dom.

Edit: Also it's not a consistent dinging; it's just a couple of dings.

I FIGURED IT OUT!

It turns out that my rear window was open a fraction of an inch, as evidenced by a diagram of the car flashing ever so-briefly in the LCD when I turned it off. I closed the window, fired it up, turned it off again, and it serenaded me with those sweet tunez.

I guess this thread no longer has any purpose, but it shall serve as a monument to my dumbass-ery.

On the contrary. This is something that could happen to anybody and this thread will show the fix.

Glad the band is back together!! Wonder if Phil Collins will make a quick cameo.

Yup. Had it happen to me that way more than once, kid in the rear seat doesn’t close the window all the way. I like that the genesis alerts you. I’ve owned vehicles that didn’t and low and behold it rained that night and the window was cracked enough to allow water into the car.

Don't worry, if you can't get enough K-pop from your car's welcome/goodbye tunes, then just know that Conan has you covered...
