  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone,

I'm a new "almost owner" - have been up since 2 a.m. reading up on adding the genesis wings. I have not had this hard of a time sleeping around Christmas time since I was about 11 years old! Why does this car make me giddy? I'm finalizing my purchase of a 3.8, Prem + Tech 2009 this morning when the dealership opens. I had an interesting buying experience as I tried the "fax broadcast" method (except did it by email) and found an excellent deal about $2500 below invoice on a 2009 model still haunting their lot. It was nice to have dealerships calling me and emailing me quotes trying to beat each others' prices rather than me having to try to talk them down at the dealership (I'm terrible at negotiating in person but do pretty well on the phone and by email).

Anyway, thanks for all of the tips on adding the wings. Not sure yet if I'll add them to the trunk and hood or just the trunk.

What I'm wondering is how to tell which badges are the official design--also, are the badges on ebay good quality? I have seen a few different designs and I'd like to get the official design without ordering directly from Hyundai.

Any thoughts on the best badges to use?

Thanks!

Ordered a set on e-bay back in August, and I was satisfied with the quality, etc. There is only one set that I know of for the 18" wheels, it is the wings with the black background. Fit and look great.....

The badges I received from an Ebay vendor came from Korea in Hyundai/Kia OEM packaging. We put on the trunk and wheel badges, I did not like the appearance of the one on the hood.

My wife wanted the steering wheel badge and we installed it. It is NOT an OEM item and while it looks good, a very close inspection would show it is an aftermarket item.

The sterring wheel one may not be oem, but for the price difference for it/or the replace the airbag. To me it is just fine....

The best I found was the trunk badge and wheel badges (V6 18") shipped for $86 - these were the Mobis factory sealed badges - I posted here about it and the vendor. Another few bucks for a steering wheel cover that was not OEM vs the $240 KDM airbag I can live with.

kdmstuff.com is much more expensive then eBay vendors. The wheel hubs alone are $90.

For the FWIW file. I got the wheel and trunk badges from ebay vendor "woowon11" in two separate buy it now auctions. Total was less than $68 and those deals still exist. I think the shipping time was about a week and a half from Korea and everything was in OEM packaging.

I believe kdm is the only one selling the steering wheel badge my wife purchased.

I got my steering wheel badge, wheel caps, and trunk/hood emblems off of eBay.

You can also get OEM "Genesis" and "BH380" badges for those who want to make their 3.8 lettering more like the KDM model (i.e. remove the "Genesis" from the right trunk lid, put new Genesis lettering on the left and the BH380 badge on the right)..

EDIT: Forgot to add that you can get OEM winged license plate bolts too. See this link in my signature for picture.

Where are the body side moldings from? Did the dealer put these on? Yours look great, have a nice low profile and perfect color match, so they don't take away from the car.
I want to be careful in choosing the correct moldings as you have done. I have seen some pretty awful molding jobs (other car brands) when the wrong ones are slapped on.
Thanks.

The authentic bages are 86330-3M000 for the Trunk and 86320-3M000 is for the Hood. The trunk is 5 1/2" wing tip to wing tip and the Hood is 6 1/8" tip to tip. The hood have 1/2 centering pins and trunk has 1/4" center pins. They also have the MOBIS seals on the back. I ground off the hood wings alignment pins so I didn't to to drill holes in the hood. That way if I descide to take it off I don't have any holes. SFR wings for the steering wheel and V-8 caps are just stick on and come off in short time. Quick look but not authentic. The real V8 caps have aluminum winged centers not plastic.

Thanks...got them from auto-spoilers-and-trim on eBay. The paint quality is excellent. The only drawback is that you have to decide yourself at what height you want to put the moldings. I've seen others put theirs significantly higher up the door than I did. <shrug>

I measured the Genesis' here in Korea and the bottom center of the emblem is 2" from the edge of the hood. Of course centered on the grill.

Good info to know. If you get a chance, a pic would be nice.
