  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Test drove the 2012 3.8 and like it better than the 2011 4.6. I posted a more detailed review under a different thread.

Product planner Ricky Lao says that the previous 4.6-liter Tau V8 continues in the Hyundai sedans, though it has previously accounted for only 20 percent of sales, and the new R-Spec version with GDI will cut into that further.

Either something's not right or V8 Genesis sales have tanked.

Krafcik stated a while back that V8 sales comprised of 45% of Genesis sedan sales, and sometime later, Inside Line had a chart comparing the take rate of V8s for the Genesis, the 5 Series, E Class, etc. w/ the Genesis V8 take rate at 40% while all the other were around 10% or lower.

I think maybe one is overall sales and one is only for USA.

For 2009 HMA estimated 20% of Genesis sales would be with V8, but oil prices went down and V8 demand increased. Another factor was that certain options (like premium leather, etc) were only available on V8.

Would not surprise me if V8 sales in US reached 40% for 2010 and 2011 models (but I don't know for sure).

For 2012, V6 HP increased to 333 with 2 MPG better than old V6, and oil prices are fairly high again, and "almost" all options are now available on the V6 with Tech Package, R-Spec with 5.0 introduced for enthusiasts, so HMA is betting on lower 4.6 V8 demand.

But it is just a guessing game.

According to the WardsAuto article on the Genesis (posted in the review section), the engine mix is expected to remain 65% V-6 and 35% V-8.

11 days ago, I bought a 2009 3.8L base (it does have the all important rear cargo tray), sapphire blue pearl w/ cashmere interior.

I will add, in addition to getting a great deal on a used car, I am extremely happy w/ my Genesis.
