  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
After looking throughout this forum, I was wondering, with all option packages and years that the first generation Genesis were produced, which version is the rarest and which version is the most popular.

I am guessing the following for rarest:

1) The 2009 or 2010 4.6 with no option packages
2) The 2012 4.6 with any combination of option packages
3) The 2012 5.0 (non-Rspec) with any combination of option packages
4) The 2014 3.8 with all option packages

And for most popular:

1) The 2010 3.8 base
2) The 2013 3.8 base

I am curious because Hyundai does not supply production statistics that I am aware of. I believe the 2014 had a very short run, so the output must be less then 2013. The 2nd generation was already selling around April 2014.

I just bought number 2 in the rare category with the Tech package. I checked online frequently for the 4.6 2012 because I much prefer the 12-14 body style, and figured I could get the 4.6 for a much better deal than the 5.0 due to demand. Turns out I was right and found a low miler for around $20,000.

Production stats are tough since I think even the coupes numbers are included in overall Genesis sales.

2012 4.6 is rare and like all 2012-14 V8s only came one way: Tech. (2011 might also be v8 tech-only, not sure).

There aren't many red R-Specs around.

2009 4.6 without the Tech package. This was the only year you could by a 4.6 Genesis without having the Tech package standard as it was in 2010-2014.

2012 5.0L NON R Spec.

Both of these are pretty rare.

The Cabernet Red Pearl is a rare color for the R-Spec. Was it available only for 2013? I know it was not available for 2014. I like how it blends into the tail lights.

It wasn't available in 2014 (at least according to the brochures) and it only became available for 2013 sometime after the start of the 2013 production year.

Yippie... Got a 2012 non R Spec 5.0. Will be waiting to hit the Mecum or Barrett auction any day now... [emoji18] that would be funny if 40 years from now some of these rare colors and combinations, of a Genny no less, would be of some value. Might be.. If the electronics still are good, and certain people who lusted after a Genny or had one, wants to have one again. And are sick of GE fan motor based electric cars.. Or Honda lawn mower engines sputtering and wheezing around. You never know.. Based on some of the odd and rare things that command big money at those auctions.

Hey, a pristine Mercury Marauder in blue, are selling for more than the discounted prices people paid for them in 2003. A cult following for the Marauder. Let alone a pristine Trilogy.. Good for them. Let's see trilogy come out with a supercharger package for the Genny..

The red is cool... Red always commands respect as people reflect on good cars.

I had a 2004 Marauder (also in red). I liked the car a lot. Not as powerful as an RSpec, but a better ride and more than adequate handling.

Nice.... And now that I think about it, Marauder fans would generally appreciate a V8 Tau in a Genny... An the sleeper like high performance sedan. As for the ride... Our CV Sport, with Bilsteins, does ride a bit smoother.. More chassis shake than the Genny. Of course not the 32V like the Marauder. I keep hearing how the rigid collars button up the ride and handling for the Genny.

Someone said they made 1000 or so of the red Marauders? But only a few hundred blue? Black and silver, much higher numbers.

A guy I used to work for loves the marauder, he has both a black and a blue one, his shop has done supercharged marauders for years now. He dyno tunes them as well, had about 400 wheel hp on the last one I was there for. pretty impressive plus they are cobra motors so aftermarket was much better.

Are those Trilogy supercharger packages? Friend of mine owns three.

vortec they are custom made by him, they use cobra vortec superchargers.

Let me elaborate a bit.

He uses a vortec kit, which he then customizes and puts different size/length piping to. As well as custom mounting and bracketry bits on.

Got it. Sounds great.
