Who can help? 2011 Gen Sedan 3.8, I am about to change the timing kit . . .

. . . to cure a nasty rattle on start-up. A helpful Genesis mechanic suggested to replace the cams' VVT gears at the same time, they apparently are the source of the metallic rattle. The cost of these is stratospheric more than $400 CAD x 4 = OUTCH at the dealers, maybe $250 each from other sources. Has anyone tackled this?
