who has a "good" 2012 5.0 R-Spec

if I were you I would just avoid the 2012 5.0

Why is that? The problem is only present in a percentage of builds, so the logic doesn't add up. Worst case? Free 0 miles engine.

It pre-dates the ring changeover. The ones that are surprising are the March/April builds in here. Wonder if there was a mixed parts bin at assembly for a while after the revision.

why deal with the headache? Plus I don't think they are doing crates no more, just short block rebuilds.

Since I heard about the oil consumption issue I've been checking my '12 5.0 R more frequently and this thing doesn't burn any oil at all.

I'm also interested in knowing the VIN range. I must be outside of it...

I just checked my build date. 17 Jan 2012. So I'm on the cusp? Unreal.
