  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Who has the Genesis GV70 at the TOP of their list for their next vehicle?

If I take an Audi A6 in for service, I don't expect to get a VW Jetta as a loaner, then why should I get a Hyundai Kona or Santa Fe when I bring my G80 in? This will change as stand alone Genesis dealerships begin to be built.
Some dealers are dumb. I took my Sonata in for service and they gave me a Genesis for a loaner. Ended up buying one. They were smart. Personally I'd not mind getting a Santa Fe just because it is different and I'd like to try one.

I ended up knowing my BMW dealer much too well ..................always taking my cars back for issues , nice lounges with latte machines does Not make owning a car better , after 12 BMWs I will NEVER buy another one .................if the Genesis product is parity priced and more reliable , they have me !

My guess is the base GV70 model is going to start just a hair under $40K. Car and Driver agrees. From all the research I've done, these cars are much more expensive in Korea. So much so that there is a market for buying in the USA and reimporting back into Korea. That's bc the brand is well known and established in Korea, and the Korean govt has different taxes for cars. Americans universally pay less for our cars - tho we also drive on poorly maintained streets for it.

GV70 is at the top of the list right now and I'm still considering an Alfa Stelvio. I don't need all the creature comforts, but I do like a sporty feeling. Moving away from cars/hatches/sedans as it's becoming a PITA to step UP getting out as I age. The next car will be an SUV in the very least. Heck, I'm even curious how the '22 Tucson N-Line AWD does. But it will be AWD regardless. (I'm a Subaru guy, and I'm just done with Subaru... not making anything that appeals to me anymore.)

As far as prices of the GV70, I did some conversions that have worked well for me in the past when people trying to figure out pricing from other countries vs US. Do the conversion based on price of cars sold there and here. It ends up being rather close. We know the prices there. We know the prices of the GV80 there and here. So... with a little magic, we get the attached. You can expect the GV70 RWD 2.5 to start under $40k (if it comes), the AWD 2.5 to be $43k-ish without options, and the Sport to start around $48.5k-ish. And I'm totally OK with that.

Been watching and waiting for this vehicle for a year, keeping close tabs on whatever info crops up on it. Its just the right size for me and spouse as we currently drive a leased 2018 X3. Looking strongly to purchase this time as I believe the reliability of Genesis should be better than BMW. Was hoping to be able to step into one by end of April but with everything I've read probably will be later in the year. I'm really liking what I see so far regarding the looks and seems most reviews so far have been excellent. Interested to see what Western (US, etc) performance reviews will say.

New member here, I have lurked here since the reveal of the GV70. I own an Infiniti EX35 that I'm planning to replace at the end of the year or beginning of 2022. I have a close friend that works for Genesis as a salesman and when the G70 was released in Canada we went to a small test drive and I was impressed with the car. My Infiniti has been a money pit in the last 3 years, in 2020 cost me $12,760 CAD in repairs and maintenance and the only reason I was holding to it was due to not agreeing with my wife, I wanted a sedan with a V6 and more than 300hp but my wife prefers and SUV so my options were: Lexus RX350; reliability and style but I think it lacks in tech and driving feel. Mercedes GLC 43 AMG is more of my like but I'm not a fan of interior and some materials lack quality. Audi SQ5 I like it but there are points where I have my doubts about certain options and lack of it. And then the GV70 was revealed. I love the styling and tech as well the engine power and the fact is rear-wheel bias, my Infiniti is rear-wheel bias and I love it, one of the points that I don't like about the RX is that is FWD bias.

My plan is to book the car for a test drive and do some errands to see if the trunk space is enough for us (my biggest complaint with the EX is the trunk being small, too small actually) but I think it won't be a problem because the GV70 is close/same size as a GLC and X3 and these models are way bigger than mine.

I read about the transfer case not being serviceable and being a problem in the long run. I like to keep my cars for a long period of time, but, I'm willing to take a hit here and there than live with a car that never fails but is not what I want. I don't want a lemon but looking at the data of the last years and reading experiences of Genesis owners I think I will be fine. Some brands were out of my list due to reliability and I don't like the current Infiniti models or where the brand is going.

Genesis and Hyundai have about the best warranty in the market and their vehicles have exemplary reliability records. If the GV70 feels a bit tight in back for your tastes, you might also look at the GV80 when you are out test driving. The GV70 is the size of the Audi Q5 and the GV80 is the size of the Audi Q8.

I watched a video of GV70 by a korean YouTuber and he was 6' tall and he sat comfortably in the back seats. I'm 5' 10" so I know the cabin space is not going to be a problem. Just the trunk but I'm 99% sure it will be just fine.

I really hate the steering wheel of the GV80 and I'm looking at the Sport trim of the GV70. I know it's being too picky but I can't stand the steering wheel of the GV80.

Yeah, it was the rear storage I was thinking of. I'll be looking at both vehicles myself for when my Lincoln Nautilus lease ends later this year (the Nautilus comes in right in-between the GV70 and GV80 in size) . Personally -- and these kinds of things are entirely personal -- I much prefer the interior design of the '80 over the '70, including the steering wheel. The GV70 interior, particularly the instrument cluster, looks like a messy mish-mash to me. But I'm holding off on any decision until I can sit in, and drive, each of them and the GV70 might look a whole lot better in person.

EDIT: But the exterior of each is amazingly great looking. I think they are the two best looking crossovers on the market currently, at any price. To me, the rear of the GV70 looks a spiffier and as does the front end of the GV80, but they both look great.

So are you going to say a V8 is faster than a V6 ??? I've stomped a dozen V8s with my Stinger GT AWD , from digs and rolls ..................weight is a huge factor

I'd like to see the 1/4 mile trap speed - I'll wager that the 3.5TT version has a higher mph. I'd also like to see a couple more car magazines test acceleration. Can you get a 3.5 with RWD only? Maybe they were having troubles hooking up. That's one reason why trap speed matters; it's generally a good indication of horsepower.

I am starting to get worried that it will be priced too high. Apparently...Genesis started off being cheaper than the competition to make a name. Now since they have proven themselves (other than the shit dealer network)...they will probably be priced the same or higher than the competition. I was told this by a Genesis GM.

If the GV70 is over $60k USD...that would put them more than $5k over a fully loaded Q5/X3.
Yeah, I wasn't expecting the asking price of the top trim GV80 (I was expecting lower based on what various car reviewers were suggesting.)

And I thought that the 2.5 i4 and 3.5 V6 were supposed to be the start of the higher efficiency Hyundai/Kia/Genesis motors. Somebody here said something about how the lower efficiency is intentional via richer air/fuel mixture. Gas mileage won't stop me from getting one, and the duel injection on the 3.5 is a selling point to me.

Not for the GV70 that I've seen in any market. There are GV80 3.5TT RWD in other markets (Korea for sure).

New member here... been lurking for a few weeks. I’ve had the GV70 on my radar since it was leaked over a year ago. I currently drive a ‘17 Macan GTS (tuned)... And have finally decided to stay in a luxury compact CUV. Will attempt to get out of the GTS sometime this year, but have until summer of ‘22 before warranty is out... so I’m not in a rush. Have narrowed it down to another used GTS, a new or gently used Macan Base (4 cyl)... or the GV70. I’m on “the list” for my nearest dealer for updates and ordering. I need to see these in person before I sign on the dotted line, but my sights are set on the Sport Ed with all the boxes checked. I know it won’t drive like a Porsche, but what they are offering for the price, it needs to at least be looked at. I’ll be reading a lot over the next 6 months. If anyone has any questions for me about Macans in general, feel free. I absolutely love mine and will have a hard time letting go of it.

Welcome !

Love the Macan :)

I have been comparing the GV70 to the Q5. So...since the Q5/Macan share a lot...I would say you will have more room in the GV70 since the Macan's roofline is so sloped.

Next...the 3.5TT engine will be no slouch. Since you are into tuning...the JB4 should shave a almost a 1/2 second off.

Lastly...Genesis has been fantastic with their chassis development. So it may not drive like a Porsche...I doubt it will be much worst.

As for quality and finish...many will tell you that Genesis has been killing it in that department.

Just my opinion of course.

I was a hardcore Audi guy for years...and have ZERO regrets moving to Genesis.

I had a Macan for 3 days and I love the way it drove and the PDK. It was the 4 cylinder but it was fast in the city but on the highway my Infiniti felt faster. I been a Porsche fan since I was a little boy and I just crossed the Macan out my list because to have the options I want it would cost close to $100k CAD. I will keep the change to buy a Boxster.

PS: the seats in the Macan I had were the "cheap" and they were worst than the seats in my Infiniti. But the rest was what I was expecting for the price and brand.

I'm hearing the Genesis GV70 will be here sometime in July/August time frame.

^ Sounds about right - typically, we get things 6-8 months after the Korean launch, and the 1st real month of sales for the GV70 in Korea was January.

Yep... the PDK is ridiculous. I drive my GTS 85% of the time manually shifting (using both the paddles and the shifter). It allows me to keep the revs in the ranges I prefer whilst driving around town. The craziest thing about the Macan GTS is, when you want to drive it HARD (and I mean HARD), the dang thing will take it. I’ve thrown my GTS into more than one corner that I probably shouldn’t have, at a speed I probably shouldn’t have been doing (in a CUV)... especially on 20inch All Season tires... and the thing stuck like glue. Then you hammer the brakes, and it climbs down MPHs with heaps of grab. Most people do not realize the magic wand used on the Macan. I’m not being over-dramatic when I tell you it will leave a huge smile on your face time and time again. The whole reason I’m even considering the GV is because in all honestly, none of us should even be driving a car like that on the road, let alone a CUV. So if the GV is even 50-75% of the performance of the GTS, then that should be PLENTY for a DD for me. Again, it is at the very least worthy of a good look before buying another Macan IMO.

Moving on , I think the GV70 will be awesome but I'm heading to Audi
