  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone here know what 'family'/vintage/version of the ECU of the 4.6 Genesis uses? ECU EDC15C2 ?

and what type 'software' is needed to flash the ECU? OBD2? KWP2000+ software and other KWP/ ISO software?

I searched around for this a few weeks ago. I found a reader for the ECM, and even a writer, but it doesn't sound like software exists yet that knows the mapping of the ECM (so you know what you're modifying). I guess we'll have to wait. Let me know if you find something though.

Even though I work in automotive, I have no idea what you're talking about. :D
I didn't know there was a type for an ECU image.

I'm hopeful someone will figure it out and release a sport ECU map.

Well, a programing algorithm that tells the Genesis how to behave. For example, shift at redline at 90% or greater throttle, shift at 4k at 70-89%, 2.5k at 40-69%, etc, how quickly to downshift when throttle exceeds a certain percentage, (like, no pause when you go 10%-0%-20% like if you were rolling up to an intersection), how long to hold a gear when throttle % drops, etc.

Also how rich/lean to run through the rpm range to optimize power vs mpg during all this. Not really tuning the engine, but changing the behavior of the computers that control it.

I've seen reflashes for the Genesis Coupe, but very little real info or dyno plots to back up the claims, nor good info on engine behavior with the reflash - http://www.poweraxel.net/powerx.htm

Also, no info on being able to modify the transmission TCU, so no changing shift points.

I'd like to be able to make some "tuning" changes to the ecu; shift points, total cancel of ECS(traction control) timing, and air/fuel would be kinda nice

Oh yeah. Having the capability to switch between different tunes would be awesome too.
