  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was seriously thinking of trading my 2010 4.6 Genny for a Equus Ultimate. Went on Auto Trader and found there are 385 new and preowned 2011 and 2012 for sale. Why is that? There is a 2011 Ultimate, certified with 8600 miles on it for sale for 44K in South Carolina. There are many others with very low mileage under 10K miles for sale in the low to mid 40K range. I don't understand why if such a limited production car there are so many for sale. Is there something wrong with this car that people are selling them with such low mileage that nobody is admitting too. Going to hold off and wait for the next generation Genny. Just my 2cents.

As far as 2012, one would expect inventory to still be available. For the previous years, I assume many are demos, loaners, etc.

I am not sure where you got the idea it is a limited production car. It is only limited by the number they can sell, since it is rather easy to ramp up production in Korea as needed.

But IMO, the USA Equus is basically a Genesis with an air suspension system (which is optional on the KDM Genesis but not available on USA Genesis). The Ultimate has the "limo" rear seat, but that is not much use unless you have a chauffeur.

Maybe some of those people wanted the newer engine in the 2012.

Over 4200 have been sold. So less than 10% for sale as used which would include dealer demo, tradeins, and loaners.

Yes, there are a lot, and until recently, some brand-new leftovers that are now two model years old. I had an offer of a new unused Ultimate for $50k, and another that was a dealer demo, for just under $49k.

I passed on them, and bought a 2012 Ultimate that was priced aggressively. The wait was worth it-what a fine automobile!

I did share your concern, and decided it was better to wait for the 2012 with the 5.0 and 8 speed. That being said, there's nothing wrong with the 2011-I think the tranny shifts more positively and it just is not quite as snappy.

One thing I found in autotrader was that some dealers list a signature as an ultimate and you have to look at the pictures carefully to make sure you see the front camera and the back seat console.
