Why buy Extended Warranty now?

I've never had an extended warranty on a vehicle but considering it with a new GV70.

Why should I buy it now when the car is covered completely for 5 years/ 60000 miles? If I'm going to keep the vehicle when that warranty is running out can I just add an extended warranty then?

Do you know what is going to happen in the next five years? Will you still want the car at that time? How long have you kept cars in the past?

If you took that warranty money and invested it today, would it cover a fairly large expense five years from now?

Never had an extended warranty for anything and never regretted it. Warranty companies are in business to make money, not to be a nice guy and help you. I figure I'm thousands ahead over my adult life with appliances and cars.

I just bought a GV70 and passed on the extended warranty. The base warranty is pretty good. If the car is causing me issues at the end of the warranty period I will dump it (really hope that is not the case.....)
