  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Every button works besides the a/c buttons.

The night time dash lights come on around all the buttons including A/C buttons. But if i try to click the A/C buttons or turn the knobs nothing works. The lights on the buttons to indicate that it is on, dont come on either.Every other button on my center console work perfectly fine. I don’t understand what is going on.

You may be low of freon. This will keep the system from coming on.

Liston for the compressor clutch to engage. If clutch is not coming on, low Freon or some other issue may be happening. You can jump start the clutch to test it but if your not electrical savvy and comfortable with hot wiring direct to the clutch, would not recommend tinkering outside your comfort level.

Is there a way to test freon without getting a/c recharger?

You don't need a recharger but you do need gauges. You can get a set for $50 or less but you also have to know how to use them.

Not sure what a shop would charge to just check but a refill, if needed, will probably be $100 to $200.

Sounds like you had some kinda electrical issue that knocked out some of your controls. If the indicator light on your A/C button doesn't light up when you press it, most likely the A/C compressor clutch is not engaging. You can check this by popping the hood and checking to see if the A/C compressor spins when you click the A/C button. If not, there is no point checking your refrigerant level. You need the compressor running and building pressure to do that.

Not knowing what exactly happened to cause the issue in the first place, there is no way to tell what is causing the A/C button not working. You'll need to bring the car to dealer service or indy shop.
