  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will going over the stated mileage for service void warranty on my 2024 GV80?

I am coming up on my first 8500 miles on my 2024 GV80 purchased new in December 2023. Genesis of South Richmond is unable to get me in for 5 weeks. Will driving my vehicle further eventually void warranty, or worse yet, damage the engine? Also, the next dealership is a 100 miles away, and they don't have openings either for service. Any suggestions?

A little over every once in a while should not be a warranty concern.
Personally, I would not have waited till the stated 8.5K miles, especially in the first year of use, but then I try to keep cars for 250K miles.

Should not really be a problem but, I'd make a note of when you called, the miles at the time, and date finally serviced.
During the pandemic my dealer was out that far but now 7 to 10 days.

Thanks joegr and EdP for your helpful responses. I am just frustrated that I fell for the dealer’s spiel about how the service experience would be great. But if getting an appointment is a hurdle, then everything else is secondary. Sorry for venting.

When you finally get in, hopefully they have good coffee if you are waiting.

Couple of years ago I wanted to get an oil change before a 2500 mile trip. This is still pandemic time and could not get in before I was leaving. Went to a lube place down the road and got just showing up the next day. Convenient, but their price was $30 more than the dealer.

For regularly scheduled maintenance you do not have to bring it to a Genesis dealership. Any certified shop will do and will not void or impact your warranty. Keep your receipts and associated documentation. If the choice is between getting the service done when it is supposed to be (or earlier) vs. waiting extended periods just to have Genny do it - I would rather keep the car on schedule. There is nothing magical about the Genesis which requires most regular maintenance to be done at a specialized shop. It is just a slightly more luxurious Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy - it's not a Ferrari. :)

Welcome! Just letting you know that I moved this topic out of the community lounge and into the main Genesis Motors forum. :)

Thank you Sal! Newbie mistake😀
And thanks Srobak for the advice. I wasn’t comfortable going to just any lube shop. So I called the Hyundai dealership to see if they would change the oil. They would not do it on a 2024. They can do 2017, 2018, 2019 only. Anyway, I finally called the Genesis Concierge number and the gentleman who answered said no problem even if I was a couple of thousand miles over. He said there is lots of leeway on the recommended service, especially for the first service. I’m going to trust his opinion 🤞🏼

I also communicate with my SA by email. So I have a record that I tried to get service timely. As a now retired litigator, I would love to see Genesis try to claim the service was outside of the required window. But, alas, it isn't stupid enough to try that nor do I think it would want to.
