  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Will your new car have AA or CarPlay?

GM is going to eliminate it, will others follow?

Attributed to Babbit, from the story: “They have stability issues that manifest themselves as bad connections, poor rendering, slow responses, and dropped connections. And when CarPlay and Android Auto have issues, drivers pick up their phones again, taking their eyes off the road and totally defeating the purpose of these phone-mirroring programs. Solving those issues can sometimes be beyond the control of the automaker.”

GM is exaggerating the problem. Every indication is that drivers *want* AA and CP, so my bet is that both will be around for a while.

We want BIG V-8s too. If they can prove a safety issue, it would be easier. Did you read the article? The part about harvesting data? Money may also be a factor.

GM want's to come out with their own and save money. I assume they have to pay something to Android, And I know that apple will never give anything away for free. But, I may be wrong. They received a lot of heat with that press release and have already walked back some of the statements in the original release. I will guarantee they will never do this.
Look how people bitch about not having wireless AA or Apple play. Just think if they did not have it at all. I sold a year old Acura because I wanted AA.

Likely. It wasn't that long ago that the infotainment systems in these cars were themselves the glitchy distraction and why I preferred CarPlay over whatever the OEM included. There have been a couple release cycles when CarPlay hasn't been the best, but generally these issues get fixes faster than cars get OTA updates. I also don't use wireless CarPlay, so that avoids one potential source of issues.

While I can see the argument being made, I'm not convinced GM will somehow do better.
