  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wind noise

No issue and quiet when at highway speeds.

I drive daily at 80+ to work and have not noticed any wind noise. I've taken it up to 105 and have not heard wind noise over road noise.

Not everyone has the same hearing sensitivity (especially those who work in loud environments or have a history of listening to loud music)! I have never been in a car that did not have some level of wind noise - it's physically unavoidable with conventional automotive design. If I listen for it with the radio off, I can hear it in my Genesis - but it is very low level, unobtrusive and MUCH less than other cars I've owned - not something I ever really notice!

I typically listen to the radio on 3-4, so I don't blast it. I'm not saying it's not there, but compared to road noise, it is not noticeable (on MY car). :D

There might be some piece of molding or bodywork sticking up. If it is a whistle, look for a sharp step or gap where the sound is originating. You can verify by covering the gap with painters tape.

one would hope the side mirrors are designed to minimize wind noise when not folded. but folding them in at speed might help (or not) rule them out.

Interesting discussion. I have wind noise on the passenger side that seems to be coming from the A pillar area. Noise start at 40 mph and up. I can't find any strips or moldings out of place. Since I do most of the driving, its my wife who complains of the noise, doesn't bother me that much! I was hoping it might be the window molding replacement, but apparently not.

maybe some of you have slightly defective seals, but this car is the quietest airtight cars ive experienced.

Hello All
I have a 2015 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate and noticed that at speeds exceeding 70 mph there is a noticeable wind noise developing around driver's side B pillar area. I have inspected the weather-strips around the drivers door, everything is OK
The dealer states this is because of the very design of this car and is absolutely normal. I personally disagree with this. Anyone experiencing the same issue?
Thanks you for your comments/suggestions

I have finally determined where the wind noise comes from. See attached photos.

I originally noticed the noise when I first purchased the car in November 2014, noise has been gradually getting louder (even at lower speeds of 35+ mph vs. 65 mph before). As you can see by the blue tape I put on. This is where the noise gets generated. More prominent 5-6 inches after side mirror. With the tape on, SIGNIFICANT noise reduction and quiet like passenger side. I will be going to dealership to see if there is a remedy.

BTW the weather stripping looks to be in good shape around window and lower door frame. Maybe just not a tight fit.

Hope this helps

Without doing the same testing I think this is where my noise is coming from as well. I notice that I can make it going away by rolling down the window no more than 1/4 inch (to where it's still sealed at the top). My guess is that the window curvature puts outward pressure on that seal when it's rolled down and causes the flow to change some.

The only reason I think we can even hear this wind is because the rest of the car is so incredibly quiet. When we got my wife's Highlander Limited Platinum we thought that was a quiet car (compared to our newer Acuras), but it doesn't even compare to the Genesis.

Good work! I cant wait to give it a try!

Also can now confirm same minor wind noise it at lower drivers side window strip. Would likely have been passed over in other cars, but with this car being so quit, it becomes more pronounced. It as not risen to the level to be a concern and does not impede anything nor is noticeable at all when listening to music, etc. Hope it does not get worse

I took car to dealership yesterday. Mechanic did verify noise coming from area on "blue tape". Service advisor ordered new weather stripping and stripping around mirror area also as a precaution. Part now on order and will arrive within next week.

Unfortunately, I will be out of the country on business until January 2016! So I cannot have new weather stripping installed until then. Please be patient until the new year for results of fix. I will report back when install is done. I hope this corrects noise issue.

BTW, happy turkey day, Xmas and new year everyone.

Just noticed this same issue in my vehicle. I noticed that if I placed my winter hat in the B pillar corner of the driver's window (only thing I had on hand) the noise all but disappeared. Would love to hear about the experience of anyone that has seals replaced.

Do you have an update to this? Thanks!

I had wind noise on my 2015 3.8 Ultimate above 45mph, the dealer replaced both inner and outer driver side door seal, under warranty, no more noise.

I just got an oil change and tire rotation few weeks ago (73K) miles and now all of the sudden the wind noise is so much more prominent

Check to see if all of the retainer clips are holding the panel below the engine.
