Window Cleaning?

While I do agree that cleaning a windshield is common sense, it might damage the windshield or may cause problems to humans esp the cleaner which have ammonia in there. So, it is best to cull in the expert opinions when you have it available than to just go through trial and error way of working aka common sense.

Common sense tells me to take my car through automatic car wash but there are not many on this forum who do this, instead they hand wash it. So, someone who does not own any other car, he/she will not have the experience or family/friends to tell them what to do.

With all due respect, you're not going to damage a windshield (or "cause problems to humans"???) by using the most widely used glass cleaner in the world - unless you use steel wool instead of a paper towel or soft cloth

Expert opinions? On cleaning a windshield? Okay. Whatever.

Actually - I started using Rain-x on an occasional basis to "treat windshields" as a result of reading some other threads. It helps to prevent wiper chattering - I was replacing blades more often than necessary.

Have used plain old Windex & paper towels all my life for routine cleaning. No problems whatsoever.

Yes, I also apply Rain-x sometimes. However, any time you get a different car you should check with the vehicle manufacturer to confirm that it won't interfere with the rain sensing wiper mechanism. Some systems are very sensitive and don't want any type of "coating" on the windshield.

I also apply Rain-x directly to my wiper blades, in addition to the my windshield.
