  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Window comes down on its own WTF.........

Good luck with unplugging the rear window switches. I tried that and it didn't work. Since I was getting rain in the driver's master switch, it was still opening the rear windows randomly. I may have posted earlier in this thread that anew NOS switch fixed the issue. I am now very watchful not to allow rain to get into the drivers switch and no more issues. Bad design...

Yep, failure of the water barrier between the window slot and the driver's window switch assembly can do this.

On my 2013 the rear windows cannot be rolled down if the rear switches are unplugged even from the front. The relay coils are wired in series with the rear switch harness.

Has anyone have a problem with their Genesis window coming down on its own when it rains or while going through the car wash, a friend of mines has a 2009 4.6 Genesis and everytime he goes through the car wash his rear passenger side window goes all the way down , needless to say inside the back gets completely drenched & Hyundia doesnt seem to know how to fix it
I was getting out of my 2013 genesis the other day and assumed I hit something because the seat went all the way back on its own. I came out 3 days later to drive my car after torrential rain a day earlier and found my passenger window had also rolled down. Someone I was still able to engage the alarm. I assumed I hit some sort of safety switch or something. I want to find out what it was so I dont do it again.

My 2013 has a similar problem. Goes down on its own. Comes back up when it decides to--sometimes with switch. Usually on its own. Happened again last week in a carwash. Been a problem for three years. Dealer can't replicate the failure, so won't attempt to trouble shoot until it happens to them. Car has been in for WEEKS at a time. It's enough to keep me from EVER buying another Hyundai. Anybody else?

From what I've read about this happening, it may well be a water problem. Either at the particular door or the driver's switch. Now, I can see where they cannot replicate a random problem, but it is fairly easy to pop a door panel and look for a break in water shielding or gaskets. Small investment of time to keep a customer happy and maybe even find the real problem.

Hey Carguy. The dealer could replicate the problem if they spilled a little water into the drivers master window switch. I fixed this issue on my 2011 years ago by replacing the master switch. It has never happened again. I found a NOS switch for I think $35 on ebay. Even if it's the same color trim, you can swap that out.

Why are our vehicles not being recalled because of this Bs, just had this happen to me Lastnight

Smdh thought by now it was fixed thru a recall or something, not on this forum much , though I still have my Genesis but don't drive it much so I don't keep track of info much....

yes it sucks, but swap out the master window switch and it should go away. I've no idea the link between mirrors though. My 2011 4.6 don't fold.

I've had the same thing with my 2012. It seems to be much worse if the side mirrors are folded in. I suspect water is getting in there somehow, thru the side mirror.
Well, it happened again, with the side mirrors extended out, in a really heavy rain. I've seen a wide variety of prices for the master window switch. Any suggestions where to look?

I found one on ebay for my 2011 Genesis Sedan 4.6 for $35 a few years ago. NOS. It was a different color but that plate can be swapped with the one in your car.

Looks like used ones are $35 or so. New ones, 10 times that much. Used ones are "tested" OK. What worries me is I'm sure my current switch would test fine also, as long as it was dry. How do I know the one I'm buying is any better, used or new, for that matter?

Did you remove that whole door panel, or just pry it up out of the door handle, as some people suggest?

Although it's been years since I replaced the switch assembly, I'm sure that I just pried it up. I guess that I got lucky with the NOS part.

Guess I might have to try my luck, then. :-)

I finally got around to pulling the switch out. It's not to difficult. Just start where I have the screwdriver in the picture. The narrow end where the mirror buttons are hooks into the door panel, so don't pry there. And when you re-insert it, start with the narrow end, put the hook into the door. The base just snaps in then. BTW, AVMIII, I was looking on Ebay, and didn't see NOS as a vendor. My switch part number is 93570-3M613PB2. I found one listed for $59.89, sold by highline_auto_parts. I don't know if you were searching differently than me, But I thought I'd check with you, see if you still see NOS on Ebay.

I had gone thru a car-wash, and one of the rear windows came done just about as I finished, fortunately in the dryer. When I pulled the switch up and out, I put my hand down in the door thru the opening, and I could feel no moisture there of any kind what-so-ever. So I'm really starting to question if it's a switch issue, or maybe a wiring harness issue somewhere else in the door. After about 2 hours, when things dried out, everything started working normally again.

Has anybody taken the driver's side front door panel off on the sedan? I'm wondering how difficult it is, and where are all the bolts or fasteners, door handle mechanism, etc.?

amartz. NOS is New Old Stock. I don't remember who I bought the switch from, but it was in its original box. You might not see water anywhere near the switch. The hypothesis is that the switch contacts are not properly sealed so that moisture can get into the switch itself. I hold my hand over the switch assembly whenever I open the window in damp weather, or water will go right into that switch. And as I've written more that once, the problem has not recurred since replacing the switch.

I was getting pretty consistent results with taking it through a local car-wash, and about the time I'm going thru the dryers at the end, one of the back windows will come down. I was thinking about going thru with the switch completely unplugged, and see what happens. I wonder if the circuit is always hot, and when you provide a ground by pushing the switch, the window goes. Might explain how water shorts out to a ground and runs the window motor.
