  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2017 G80 Premium package, recently purchased.
I usually tint my windows to reduce glare from side windows.
I'm hesitant to tint these windows because of the manual sun shades on the rear windows as well as the mechanical one.

If your windows are tinted, have you had any issues with the tint being scraped/scratched with the use of the car's shades?

I tinted the rear and side windows on my 2018 G80 Sport. No issues whatsoever.

Caveat:I rarely move the manual sun shades on the side windows. They remain up at all times other than when cleaning windows inside.
Conversely the rear window mechanical shade is is operated every time I use the car. I've had no issues with the tint on the rear window.

These "shades" do not touch the window. I would not be concerned about these shades damaging the tint.

I agree. I have the power side sunshades and I leave them up all the time. Aside from keeping the car cooler it also makes it harder for passers by to see what’s in you car. Only if there is a passenger in the back do they sometimes come down.
btw I don’t have my windows tinted. Never saw the need At least on my model.

Awesome!
Thanks for the confirmation.
Didn't want to drop a couple hundred bucks on tint to have it scratched up.

The side shade on mine are manual, so there is more room for error, but I like to keep them up too.

My tint is to keep eyes out of vehicles as well keeping the sun out.
Not sure I'll do it on this vehicle though.

Someone in my neighborhood has the EXACT G80 I do (Santiago Silver) and has tinted windows and they look BOSS.

Hard to say if their 50% or 35% or greater.

There is another thread on here about tint where a guy posted the same color as mine and it looks really good.
This may convince me go ahead and do it.

G80 Sport here. Windows have been tinted for about a year now and no issues with the side or rear shades.
