  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

That will work. I'm trying to see how the Black interior looks against 35%. Thanks.

35% looks fairly dark against a black interior. But it depends somewhat on the tint film material, since some film is slightly reflective (usually about 12%) while a smoke film has low reflectivity. The reflectivity adds a little privacy.

35% is the legal limit in GA for driver side windows.

Lucky you, 50% on all of the windows is legal limit in MN, but the tint law isn't really enforced.

I live in GA, but got Formula One Pinnacle 50% anyway. I was not looking for dark, and ceramic Pinnacle 50% has very good heat rejection. With a black interior the 50% is dark enough for me, but most would probably want a 35%.

I understand your choice of film well. I really think that there is something classy looing about a non-dark film such as 50% or 35%.

The only problem I've ran into with tinting (since I tint in my spare time) is that the few people who actually wanted 50% were unhappy after they saw their car after the install. They didn't know it was even tinted they said, but I showed them around the car viewing it from different angles so they could see that it will look darker or lighter in certain light conditions.

Their other cars I tinted 35% after they new what to expect.

Sorry for the delay. Not the best pics, but they work. 35% smoke (black in color, or if your Canadian, colour) doesn't look too dark with the black interior, but on a crappy cloudy day, they will appear darker, of course on any color car.

Of the people's cars I've tinted 35% seems to be the happy medium for most.

I got my windows tinted mainly for the heat rejection (which is why I got a ceramic film), not for the dark look, although I do like the windows a little darker than stock.

Not too many people in GA get a 50% tint, as the tinter had to special order the film. I got some samples of the Formula One Pinnacle 35% and 50% film in advance, so I knew what to expect and and it turned out exactly as I hoped.

I've actually never used that film, since it would be too hard to sell, especially in MN and of course the price that goes with it.

It's funny, your tint at 50% will reject more solar energy than many 35% films and some 20%.

Good choice:cool:

Musher51 (also from MN) installed Formula One Pinnacle 50 on his Genesis before me, so I had the benefit of seeing his pics:

Yes, the Pinnacle ceramic was a bit pricey--about $360 (which was actually a 10% winter discount). But the film is high-tech, installers were top notch, and I think it was worth it.

I actually looked at Hüper Optik, which is even more expensive, but decided it is hard for a shop to install correctly because of its thickness (originally designed for perfectly flat office building windows).

I guess it would be appropriate to feel as what you paid was a good price for the film that was used.

I have been told by my film supplier (out of Dallas) that when the film first was introduced a number of years ago, an average tint job for a sedan was around $600:)

Crupp,

I have a Titanium Gray with Black interior and 40% LLumar ATX Axcess Ceramic Tint - but it meters at 35%. 50% is the law in MN but IMO 50% barely looks tinted. Very happy with the look.

Like Mark 888 I wanted to go with Hüper Optik (had it on my car when I lived in AZ) but could not find anyone that uses it in MN.

I will look for some pics..

Even clear glass blocks light. Many cars it's about 4%, so a 20% tint job would usually measure at 16%.

With the newer cars compared to 10 years ago, and luxury brands......Many cars come with a factory tint such as 80% or 70% VLT (Variable Light Transmission).

Even more weird, take a stock window such as my 2003 Elantra which had the factory tint at 80%. I measure it with my high quality tint meter and the glass registered at 70%. I put 37% Quantum (metallic film) on, and the result was 33% VLT. WTF:confused:

Thanks for all the great opinions and feedback. I ended up going with Formula One Pinnacle 50. I like the look of the 50 as opposed to the 35 (too dark). If I had a Black Car I would have gone 35 but with the Titanuim color the 50 (for me) has a more natural flow to the car. I'll post pics ASAP.

Camera phone picture, but i think it gets the point across
