Window trim?

My Bk/Bk 2010 3.8 (premium package with nav) has chrome window trim only around the rear quarter windows - the rest of the window trim is matte black. I just noticed on the Hyundai website that the window trim on the Bk 3.8 shown on the intro page is chrome around all windows. Does anybody know the story on this? Does chrome trim only come with certain option packages? Is matte black the standard trim? Was something overlooked at the factory?

What you saw are aftermarket parts. You can get it from...

I've been thinking of getting the door moldings (as offered with the 4.6L) and/or the chrome pillar posts (aftermarket only). I already have 19" chrome wheels - probably enough chrome...

Are you talking about the trim around the windows, or the pillars that separate the front and rear windows? The pillars are black, but there is chrome trim around the outside of all the windows (except on the pillars where the front and rear doors meet). Maybe you need to post a pic of your car.

I'm talking about the trim around the windows. Mine is matte black, except for a chrome piece extending part way around the rear quarter windows. The pillars are also black.

So you're saying the stock window trim is chrome, not black? Wonder what's up with mine?

Also, Korean Auto Imports and Carid offer chrome trim kits: 4-piece for just the pillars, and 6-piece, presumably for the windows. If the stock trim is already chrome why would they offer aftermarket trim as well??

I am not sure we are on the same wavelength. I think pics are needed. And apparently, the V8 has different pillar trim?

You are definitely missing portions of the chrome trim (4 pieces on each side - as you show in the picture you supplied) around your windows. The trim should look like the first picture posted above by Paulroger. I suggest you bring it in to your dealer and get this fixed.

PS: If you want more chrome than that, then you go the aftermarket route, as in the second picture posted by Paulroger.

I have contacted my dealer to see about getting this fixed. Thanks to everybody for your responses - excellent info and pictures!

Those pics look like there is a black protective tape over the chrome trim (it looks especially noticeable near the sideview mirror). Maybe your dealer failed to do a thorough PDI on your car.

That was my thought. There is tape that they forgot to remove. The tape was colored to make it obvious that it needed to be removed...but in this case...it didn't help.

Disaster, jwaters - you were right. I looked pretty closely at this, but since I didn't know the car shipped with protective tape I didn't know it was removable. Anyway, 15 seconds later I have chrome all the way around. Is this a great forum or what??

haha. Oh my goodness.....! I've owned this car for 4 months now and just relized that the tape on the bottom half of all the windows is still on!!! Time to remove and let the chrome shine!!!!
