  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

How often are you cleaning your Genesis in the winter? With all the muck/snow/salt flying around, my black Geni becomes white in a matter of hours :(
And now the forecast tells me to eat snow every 2nd day for the next 10 days.

Hee. I'm not. I'll live with the 2-tone until a rain washes away the salt from the roads. Might be in a week, might be in a month...

I wash my car (Black) at least once a week using a Hand wand only. Sometimes after I wash it I go home a hand wash using the two bucket procedure and then wax. Maybe once a month with the hand wash and wax.

How? I can't machine wash most of the time, below -10 the washes shutdown.

even at +10 I can't as water freezes to the car quickly. Generally if it gets up to 20 I wash, if it gets over 40 (months away) I hand wash.

Are you using hot water?

I pull into the "do it yourself" and use high pressure water.... thats it. I have a Pearla colored and it seems to do just fine. Although, I could uses the brush to get the "grime" off the pannel boards...

I save the detailing for the summer.

For my daily drivers, I run through the laser wash to get all of the big grime off and under carriage, then follow that up with a hand waterless wash (ONR) in the heated garage at home. OCPD - my vehicles have to sparkle, rain, sleet or shine. :(

Neither I nor the cars deal well with salt.... and god knows we've had our share of it this year in VA!

I use the two bucket method, with a soft brush, in the garage...just a quick soapy splash and swirl, followed by another with plain water and a quick dry with a couple dish towels. The entire procedure takes 15 minutes. During dry periods, it gets a automatic car wash to get the stuff out of the nooks and crannies...maybe once every couple weeks.

Automated "touchless" wash every 10-14 days or so if the temp is greater than 25 degrees. If it's less than that I go to a semi-automated car wash where they towel dry the car before I leave. That's more expensive, so I think I've only been there once of twice this season.
