I will be out of town for a few months and wonder if the car battery will still start the car when I return?

Probably not. I would invest in a Optimate 7 Charger. I have one and use it almost continuously when the car is left for more than a week sitting.

They save sulfated, test, charge, optimize maintain batteries at peak amperage. You can leave them plugged in for months at a time with no problems.

Spanky is right. In addition, you can connect it under the hood on the posts and not have to open the trunk to get to the battery. Either way can work.

I use one, so I'm speaking from experience. Batteries do not do well in cold weather. The colder the weather the quicker it will drain. Hope this helps you.
