Winter Tires

Hello all, has anyone investigated going up in size with tires on the stock 19's (235/55/19) ?

I'm looking at 255/50/19's, as it seems to be a common tire size with other manufacturers and in my mind will fill the gap better then the oem's.
255/55/19's are a possibility that are not as readily available and taller.

Hakkapeliita 10 studded are the front runner's for my central Canadian winter's and any winter input would be appreciated.

I'm also looking forward to having an SUV that is rear drive biased again !!!

Hi. I'm in Toronto and I have the Sport Plus with the 255 40 R21. 1 week ago I got a set of 235 55 R19 and rims. I choose the Blizzak DM V2.

A taller tire will increase the speedometer error and it will read a speed that is slower than your actual speed.
In the owners manual has a section for the recommended tire sizes.

I'm putting Blizzak's on my GV80, at the recommendation of my tire shop-an outfit I trust.

Were you able to put Genesis 19" rims on the GV70 from another Genesis? does anybody know if g80 or G90 19 or 20" rims will fit a GV80?

Getting closer to making a decision, anyone else have any input on the stock wheels accepting a wider tire ? 255 or 265 ? Any rubbing issue's?

We just had our first snowfall and the awd is really impressive in the car. The stopping with the oem tires is brutal, I still can't belive manufacturers do not offer at least 3 options upon new vehicle purchase. Something to the tune of sports orientated, all weather and low rolling resistance for individuals concerned with fuel economy. This should be offered on all wheel sizing that is being supplied.
Also, I haven't had a response to my question on up sizing the width of the tires on the oem wheels, I'm assuming no one has gone down that road yet?

How did y'all get the tpms sensors to work? At my local tire shop and they can't figure it out.

Can someone confirm if the GV70 has a tire pressure monitors in the wheel. I just ordered a winter wheel and tire package from Discount tire and they said I did not need a monitor and that the pressure is monitored by wheel spin,

It may be that Discount Tire is referring to the fact that a TPMS sensor is attached to each wheel and that when you put new tires on, the sensor stays with the wheel. Alternately, if you are getting new wheels, they may be planning to simply move each sensor from the 'old' wheel to the 'new wheel.

But there is also the possibility that Discount Tire is referring to this method: TPMS Without the Sensor in the Tire. But I would think that's a 'feature' integrated into the vehicle's electronics system. But I don't think the Genesis line of vehicles has that system....

This is how my Audi read tire pressures. No sensors.

I believe the GV80 uses individual sensors, so GV70 should be same…

Greenish70...here in Central Oregon, we have snow and ice, but for most of us, not enough to warrant studded tires.
Having used studded tires on a pickup I used to own, I came to the conclusion that studs are great in many circumstances, but suck in other circumstances. If the snow or ice is an off-and-on thing, it has been my experience that studs 1) wear down real quickly on dry roads, and 2) tear the hell out of macadam-surfaced roadways. I have used studless snow tires for the last 15 winters, with only one (minor) case where those tires failed on a patch of ice and caused me to s-l-o-w-l-y skid through a stop sign and across the intersection. Fortunately, in that case, there were no other vehicles around. Scared the hell out of me, yes, but not enough to cause me to put on studs.

Where did you order new sensors from…?

I ordered them from the dealer, when he looked he only found 4 in the US, he said after market may work to start but could fail with this being a 2022.

Well, I had a used set pop up at a really good price and ended getting them.
I'll try to mount tomorrow, as we have alot of snow and now also ice.
If they don't suit the car, burn barrel it is.
