If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So I'm in the process of trying to find winter wheels and tires for my new 2015 5.0 ultimate. According to many of the wheel/tire seller websites, an 18" wheel is an option on the 5.0. However, when I went to confirm this with the dealership, they would only quote a price on the 19" package and indicated that the 18" wheel wouldn't fit on the 5.0. Unfortunately, my faith in what the dealership says is somewhat less than low. My preferred tire store seems to think so as well, although they are not certain.

My question to the forum is: Has anyone with the 2nd generation 5.0 put 18"wheels on their car? If so, any issues, problems or comments?

Being in Canada, my car has the AWD, does that factor into this?

I checked a few of the online tire retailers and they all list the 18" wheel size as acceptable for the 2015 5.0 AWD.

I would feel comfortable ordering 18" since they are saying it will fit.

Personally, I would use the factory rims as your winter set... and get a set of nice summer wheels :)

Interesting idea but I have pretty much decided that I want to go with either the Michelin IceX-3 or the Nokian Hakkapelitta R2 tires, neither of which come in a size that would fit on the rear 9x19 rims. Plus, I kind of like the OEM rims and they are already paid for. :D It will be much cheaper to buy 18" wheels and tires for the winter package instead of buying new 19" rims for the summer tires.

Finally, I would really prefer to have a narrower tire to push through the snow so, if at all possible, I would prefer to put 18" rims on the car for the winter.

So, I am hoping to find someone on the site who can confirm that they have put 18" wheels on their 5.0.

The front rotors and calipers have the same part numbers on the V6 and V8. If the V6 has 18" wheels, I don't see why they wouldn't fit on the V8.

Yeah, what's been stated above. I don't think there's a difference in the brake calipers between the two models, which would be the major clearance issue.

The 5.0 has larger rotors so do not take it for granted they will fit from the 3.8.

In fact, the rear 19" stock wheels will not fit the front as the offset is different and it will rub the struts. Been there done that.

I have 18" with Michelin x-ice on my Canadian V8 Ultimate. The wheels clear the front calipers but with very little clearance. No issues at all last season...

Not sure I would ever want to put 9.5" wheels on the front - especially for winter wheels.

The dealer package includes 19" x 8" wheels for all four corners, so presumably that is an option that will work (although, as I said above, my faith in the dealerships around here is pretty low and won't be surprised if that doesn't work either.)

Have a few things keeping me busy till Tuesday so will wait to see if someone else chimes in with a confirmation that they have put 18" wheels on the 5.0. Otherwise, I guess I will take the car to Kal Tire next week and let them experiment with a few 18" wheels before giving up and ordering 19"ers.

Were you using OEM 18" Wheels? That's what I've been using on my past GenI cars, but hoping they will fit on the new GenII Ultimate...

Thanks canukv8!! This helps a lot. And it also will likely save me 20 to 25% on my winter wheel/tire package. I was hoping someone would come through with a confirmation that 18" wheels would fit. Lots of tire company websites were saying they fit but my dealership was telling me that only the 19" wheels would fit. I've learned to verify anything they tell me.

No problem. Here is the thread if you need more proof that 18" fits...

Great looking wheels!! Your car looks identical to mine, so I have to compliment your taste :D ;) :D. I'm loving the car so far, have only had it less than a month so far and I'm kicking my butt for not getting one when they first hit the street. It is pretty amazing how much more car this is than the 1st generation.

Now I have to decide between the X-ice 3 and the Nokian Hakkapellita R2. Had the previous gen Hakka's on my 2012 Genny and loved them the first two winters, the third winter was just ok and the fourth was pretty scary. When I had my summer wheels put back on last spring, the Hakka's were completely worn out. The four winters only added up to maybe 26,000 km's so wear is an issue. What kind of experience are you having with the Michelin's?

I'm looking at these wheels: http://www.rwcwheels.com/en/site/collection/winter-wheels/hyundai/mhk80-anthracite

The Michelins are great. Only one season on them so far (although a season here is Oct-Mar) so I haven't really seen any noticeable wear. I would say there is about 12,000 kms on them in the first season. They are nice and quiet and have good traction. I'm very happy with them.

Thanks once again for the comments on the Michelins. It's good to hear that they are quiet since the lack of road noise is one of the great things about the Genesis and it would be a shame to put noisy tires on it for almost half the year.

Here in Ottawa, the winter season pretty much the same. But hey, at least we get to drive 5.0's with Htrac:D:D
