I was so excited to get the update! It connects super quickly, the maps integration is fantastic. My only two issues: the siri text messaging isn’t great. Siri cuts off, spins, doesn’t hear things. Even bigger issues: the person I call can’t understand me. I was on the receiving end of one of these calls from my husband and he was garbled to the point he had to use speakerphone. Same thing happened with my phone when I called my sister—she couldn’t understand me.

Anyone else? Or advice on how to fix? Unfortunately once you “upgrade” you can’t use the cable to connect

Check your iOS version. Versions from earlier this year had issues like you’re describing with wireless CarPlay in many different vehicles.

You should still be able to force wired CarPlay by disabling WiFi on your iPhone. Wireless CarPlay uses a WiFi direct connection. There may be other ways to force connection over the USB port. I think that if the CarPlay screen shows phone battery percentage, the connection is wireless.

Also, if for some reason you still have this problem after you upgrade to the latest version of iOS (which, as of today, is iOS 18), do know that you aren't forced to use CarPlay for your phone calls. You can, for example, choose to use CarPlay for Navigation but then switch back to the Genesis's system for phone calls.

I had the same poor phone quality and reverted back to wired CarPlay. I’m still on iOS 17

Had to:

Delete device (iPhone) on gv60 device screen
Delete gv60 CarPlay from iOS, general, CarPlay
Delete gv60 from iOS Bluetooth

Then I reconnected my phone via cable and it started working again via wired CarPlay

I’ll upgrade to iOS 18 and try it wireless again this weekend

I've got the OTA update but I haven't enabled wireless yet. In other words, I'm still using wired CarPlay. It's worked fine for maps, music, podcasts etc, but I have had some problems with phone call quality. Some calls are fine, but for several calls the other person either couldn't hear me immediately, or could hear me at first but not after a couple of minutes. I was able to hear them fine. This has happened with more than one caller, and only after the OTA update. Of course that could just be a coincidence. I am running iOS 17 on an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Is that an iOS 18 feature? or is it also available with iOS 17? How do you set this up?

My wife had the garbled voice problem. I told her to use Siri to place the call and then it worked fine. She is on IOS 18.

I had the same issue with calls today - wireless CarPlay, iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 18. Multiple calls complained that there was a lot of noise from my voice in the car, or they couldn’t hear me at all but I could hear them. Tried calling back multiple times, same issue. Restarted phone and did a few more calls that did work. Not sure what root cause might be.

Did you use Siri to place the call?

i used siri to make my calls when it was happening. it also happened when people called me (past tense because i’m using wired now)

I'm having the issues as well.

now that I know it's not just me/my iPhone/car, I'll fool around with it tomorrow and see what I can figure out. saw a post on FB that recommended deleting and re-pairing the phone and car, and making sure you have the latest iOS (which I do).

the Siri not hearing/understanding is particularly annoying as I use her to send texts, and if she's only getting a few of the words I'm sending it defeats the purpose of having the voice assistant--as I find myself tempted to look at the phone to see if the text is correct.

Same issue here and know of others as well. Is there anyone we can complain to? Seems like a genesis issue but not sure if they or apple are in the best position to fix it. I've got latest iOS and re-paired it but nothing seems to fix it other than back to wired carplay.

Same experience. I updated to iOS18 and the poor or unintelligible voice quality continued. I’ve gone back to my connected device, an OTTO BA6A, and CarPlay works properly again. As you said, we’ll have to wait for Genesis to download a fix.

This phone call audio quality issue seems to be a major bug in the otherwise appreciated Nav software update. Perhaps if people could be more specific about their setup, and include Phone model, iOS version. Also, has anyone with Android Auto experienced the issue?

Nothing unique about setup because there’s very little you can customize in CarPlay. Issue occurring for me on iPhone 13, iOS18 (but the issue was the same with the latest version of iOS17).

Same question. I can’t figure out how to set that up so I can use the Genesis phone connection while connected to CarPlay.

New data point, my husband and I have noticed that our calls work fine for approximately a minute and a half before quality decreases

I had the identical experience.

Hi, been searching for this issue all over the place and found this post. So glad! I can confirm it is wireless CarPlay with the last OTA update.

Wife has 2024 GV60 Advance with iPhone 15 Pro latest iOS 17, once OTA came in and setup wireless CarPlay, about a minute in voice calls degrade and then caller can’t hear us. Got new iPhone 16 Pro on latest iOS, same issue. Removed phone and not allowed wireless CarPlay, no problem.

I just got a 2024 GV60 Performance, took about 2 weeks to get the latest OTA update for wireless CarPlay. Everything seemed to work at first but had the same calls issue shortly after. Had iPhone 15 Pro Max with latest iOS 17 and then upgraded to 16 Pro Max, same issues! Noticed the Siri issue recently on both cars.

I have done a rest to both cars, holding ‘map’ and ‘setup’ while in accessory mode. Does not fix it.

Very frustrating. Hope to hear of a fix soon. Maybe reinstalling the update via USB but not sure if the car will allow a reinstall.
