My car won't start its like it is stuck in park. So I used the override button and put in neutral and use my key to use the override then it will start what is the problem?

Did the car make any noise at start up? How about in prior days, or unusual driving while commuting? Year and model? Not enough info to help

Most cars with automatic transmission have a neutral safety switch. Could be yours is bad or bad contacts.

Yes it continues to turn over but doesn't start until I use the shift lock override

Mine had the same problem you could have a couple of issues. If your shifter is stiff or sticky, there’s a little bushing where the shift cable connects to the transmission that needs to rotate freely and it gets rusted solid, making the shifter difficult to use and preventing it from moving properly. On the transmission next to where the shift cable connects. Next to where the cable can connect is the device that tells the car what gear it’s in this needs to be rotated so that the gear indication is correct.
