  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am a new Genesis owner as I just picked up a 12 R Spec this week. I was thinking about adding a wood grain OEM steering wheel and was wondering if anyone knew a good place to find one. Thanks in advance for the help.

You can order one from a dealer parts department. Just "borrow" a VIN number from a car in the lot that has one, and they can find the part in their catalog. Or you can order one online at one the websites that sell Hyundai OEM parts (try google). You can also try Ebay. Make sure the steering wheel controls are the same as yours if you buy on Ebay (the controls may have changed from one model to the next, not sure).

Keep in mind that "wood-grain" means it is plastic with a wood-grain pattern, and not real wood, and most of it is leather, like the all-leather versions.

Another option is to offer to swap with someone. Some people who have the wood-grain plastic have inquired about getting the all leather versions for better grip.

Thanks for the info. That is actually why I was looking for wood grain. The leather is so slippery I loose my grip. My last vehicle had wood and it was better. Maybe the plastic wood be just as bad though.

i would very interested in buying your old full leather steering wheel, if you were closer i would do a trade with you in a heart beat, lol.

Did you clean it with something to make it slippery? You want to see if you find something to fix that issue, instead of replacing it. Mine is not slippery. I don't use a special leather cleaner, just regular household cleaner like Formula 409.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I contemplated buying a v8 rather than a v6, just to get the woodgrain. I am glad I got leather after I have driven it awhile, i prefer the leather.

Good stuff! May just keep it for a while. It may be that it is new. Thanks!

check out the my picture to see the one I bought ....if you like it you can buy it from KAI about $600

You can get one from CARid.com for $275. But you have to take your steering wheel off and send it to them. Then they add the wood part to it. Just have to careful with the airbag I think. I'm thinking of doing that myself.

I got on KAI and didn't see the same wheel you have. They have one that looks like the Genny OEM. It doesn't have wood on bottom. Wonder if they quit carrying the one you have?

unfortunately you are correct, went to the site and its gone

Well I want the wooden one. Anyone in Florida have a wooden one they would like to trade for a leather one. I could meet you and do the swap right there.

Really?! "Just to get the woodgrain?!" :p Isn't that like hiring a hooker because you like her purse?
