  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My wife and I are on our first extended road trip with the 2015 Genesis and have enjoyed trying out all its many features. We were in our 3rd floor motel room overlooking the parking lot. Just for fun (and to confirm that our car was locked), I tried to see if the key fob remote would work even from way across the parking lot and through the double pane storm windows of our room.

It was night and the parking lot was completely dark, yet when I pressed the lock button on the key fob remote, our Genesis' very bright yellow tail light lamps lit up! I was so amazed that it would work several hundred feet away from the car.

That can work both ways. We were on the fourth floor of our hotel and I apparently sat on my fob cuz when I looked out at our car the trunk was open! Be careful with that power you possess cuz with great power comes great responsibility. :)

Wish my 2010 fob was that good. It is hit and miss from 50-75 ft!!

Actually, I'd rather have it a little on the weaker side. The potential for accidentally opening the trunk when the car's outa sight is kinda scary if you often have valuables there. Fortunately when it happened to me I'd already moved the valuables into my room. If we'd been, parked behind a restaurant while still traveling and it had happened with the car out of sight I think it could have been pretty serious (and EXPENSIVE!).

Having a more powerful fob is very useful when you have remote start, but we know that's not a benefit for us 2g owners, don't we? :)

That's is too FUNNY, but something definitely to be careful of. Ckon, you crack me up!

I live in NYC on the 6th floor across the street from my parking lot.
My apartment overlooks the parking lot and the key fob works great.
I own the 2014 R Spec - not the 2015 - but yes, they seem to have some range on them.
