  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Worth waiting for the 2023 G70 over 2022?

I'm also in the market for a '22, since there's no way Genesis would change it just a year after significant upgrades. I'm bummed it doesn't have the new engines, which are more efficient (and they have dual injection). My wife is balking at the fuel mileage, mostly because reviews knock it as the worst in the segment, but it shouldn't be that bad. The other deal-breaker for her at the moment is if it REQUIRES premium fuel, which is $0.60 more expensive here, so over 5 bucks. I think it's only recommended, but will ask on a thread I'm about to post how the car runs with regular. I know it has less power, but I just want to make sure the engine would be happy with that.

Both of the 2 closest dealers to my house (ALB is 300 miles away) have ZERO Genesis inventory at the moment. And yes, that means no freaking vehicles at all; none. That's crazy. So the chances to get a discount evaporated. Ha ha. Found one almost like the one I'm considering ('22 3.3T RWD Sport Prestige in white/sandstone) in Peoria, from the same ALB owner, but it has the more expensive white paint, that I'd have to make sure it's not bluish. We'll see what happens :).
I know that Premium is required in the 3.3t

I have no info and asked the dealer. They stated they were unsure too. I decided to just purchase the 2022. I really like it so I have no regrets.
Did the same.

The top line 2023 2.0T is now called 'Sport Prestige' too, but it does NOT have the equipment of a 3.3T Sport Prestige, so kind of misleading IMO. They did have it in 2021 (with 'elite' and 'prestige' packages, except the Brembos), but not anymore. For 2023, the top trim 2.0T gets ventilated seats, which was a deal-breaker feature for us. And it also got the nicer interior trim and wheels of the 3.3T SP. I like the seat design better on my 2.0T (no diamonds everywhere), but no Napa leather. At least it's leather, as without the Prestige package, you get vinyl. Also missing is the 360 camera and HUD, which I miss for the blind-spot info there, but that's about it. Oh, and I had to pay over 2 grand more for the 2023, which wasn't nice. Ha ha.

Someone on the Facebook page posted parts of the 2023 G70 Product Reference Guide. It looks like no real changes and NO implementation of the 12.3” 3D gauge cluster which is a HUGE bummer!
Lol, yeah, because they are getting rid of the car in 2024. NO more G70 after 2024, like the stinger.

A friend who works for corporate Hyundai. He told me about the Stinger before it was announced, and he has also informed me that almost - if not -all - Genesis sedans will be killed off, but he was specific about the G70. Might keep the G80. SUV sales are already far outpacing their sedan brothers, and the same may hold tru for Kia, they too are looking at killing off almost all of their sedans as the vast majority of demand is for their SUV lineup.

I've read that many times, and it only makes sense using logic. There's no new version camouflaged anywhere; at least not a gas version, since it might come back as an EV. The other dead giveaways are not putting a full digital dash (as mentioned), when the Kona, also on an old platform, did. But the worst giveaway is Hyundai having put the new 2.5T on the Stinger (since 2022, I believe, but for sure on the 2023), and not on the G70... even though the Stinger is in the chopping block too. It's basically on the same old platform since 2017 (with minor revisions), I believe. As a final comment, I like my 2023 better than the newer versions, which look like grandpa's vehicles, so this is probably my first and last Genesis. Hope to keep it for a long time.

Seems to be what all the manufactures are trending to.

Meh... every year since as far back as 2020, folks have been spilling rumors about Stinger's demise. Now, they've been selling 2023 MY for several months now.

As for the G70... there aren't many new features on the 2023's because they just did a mid-cycle refresh in 2022 MY that was a lot more substantial than what's typical for Hyundai product. If G70 gets a new lease on life, a brand new redesign wouldn't be expected till at least 2025 MY, according to Hyundai's typically 3yr + 3yr life cycle. Maybe G70 might get a redesign, maybe it'll get sh**cann'ed. I'll believe it when I see it announced on Genesis' website. Either way, it doesn't affect one iota how I enjoy the cars I currently own and drive.

Dunno why folks fixate on these rumors. If G70 tickle your fancy, great! If not, move on and enjoy some other car. Lots of choices out there.
