  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Would you buy the GV80 again?

I have a 21 and the only problem was with a window regulator. I have a great dealer so my experience has been great. But you need to find out how your dealer's service department is. Some are real bad and backed up. You should let us know where you are and the dealer you are looking at so we can provide feedback on them. When my window broke I drove up to the dealer the next day and they gave me a loaner, ordered the part and I had my car back in a few days. Others, with different dealers, not so lucky.
Would I buy again. Yes, and I probably will when the 5 year part of the warranty is up. The only thing that would make me think twice is if I did not have a good dealer for service.
Thank you for your input! I am in Salt Lake city so I would either be dealing with the dealership in Ogden or Lindon. I'll have to see what I can learn about their service departments. Great advice, thank you!

I'd definitely buy my 2.5 Prestige again (22 CPO). Amazing car. I had one issue and it was an easy fix (fuel pump). The local dealer couldn't figure it out, but I took it to another dealer and they got it fixed right away and couldn't understand why the local dealer struggled. My wife drives an Audi and we paid about the same for both cars, but as she says the Audi is nice, but the Genesis is far more the luxury car. The only reason I might not go all in on Genesis is the local dealer (who has great sales people, but terrible service) but I'd definitely buy one again if something happened to mine. The other dealer - 75 miles away gladly picks up my car and drops off a loaner so I feel like it works out fine even without good service in town.

That is very impressive that they will go the 75 miles to pick up and drop off!

Can you let us know who the good and bad dealer is? Might help someone out that is considering buying.

Happy to say that the great dealer is Genesis of Cary in North Carolina. I'll skip naming the dealer whose service department is bad (but if someone is 90 minutes from Cary and considering a purchase I'll tell them in a PM - just would rather not criticize someone by name in a post for the world to see - they have gone through 3 service managers in a very short span so perhaps they got better?).

So far...yes. I've owned a CPO '23 GV80 Prestige for about 6 months.

Yes, I would buy another GV80 (more likely to consider a GV90 in the future). I've owned my 2024 for almost a year with 9,000 miles. I work from home mostly and do not drive the car daily. However, it's been fantastic around the city and especially on road trips. I don't mind the poor fuel efficiency, but I would strongly consider a hybrid option if available. Zero issues. Good dealer experience in Franklin, TN (stand-alone building next to Hyundai and Nissan dealerships).

My wife is in the market for a new car and has her eye on the GV80 2.5 advanced. I came across the reviews on edmunds and the reviews do not look encouraging. I know that some reviews tend to reflect a higher percentage of disgruntled owners who may be having problems with their car. So, I thought I would teach out on a forum to see what a different demographic of owners would say. So, especially for the owners of more recent model year gv80's, how has your ownership experience been, and would you buy the Gv80 again? Thank you in advance for any input you may have!
I have a 2024 GV80 2.5 Prestige and I would NOT buy it again. I've had problems with the rear differential which they partially fixed, lots of wind noise from the driver's and passengers' windows which they say they fixed after replacing both outside mirrors but it's still there and most recently my A/C stopped working in 95 degree heat. The GV80 is a great looking car and that's mainly why I bought it but their quality control sucks.

Wow! I'm sorry you've had such trouble with your new car. I really do appreciate your input!

Not if I wanted to stay married. 2025 3.5 Prestige, wife is the primary driver she wants her BMW back. It's had to be jumped 3 times, of course everything checks out OK. Now, all the cameras and the parking safety systems no longer work, dealer picking up the car next week to investigate.

I’m seeing the same thing here as I’ve been seeing in forum communities for 25 years. Most people are happy and having positive experiences. A few are not. The more technology that goes into these automobiles, the more finicky they can be. You’ll have about the same chance of a good or bad experience with any of the brands that are leading in technology / features.

Well my frame is reference is that I bought a 21 Ford truck and it has been absolutely riddled with issues, it is still not (and probably never will) getting the "over the air" updates that it should be gettingand it is very widespread throughout owners of these trucks. There are many other issues in addition to this that I and others have shared, but I only learned about after joining a group forum AFTER buying my truck. That is why I am trying to learn the experiences of Genesis owners through this forum BEFORE we make our decision on what car to buy. And to be completely honest, to this point I am learning of more dissatisfied Genesis owners than lexus owners which is the other car my wife is considering. I think the Genesis is a much more beautiful car inside and out, but I am seeing more consistent owner satisfaction in the lexus group. But to be fair, I only joined the lexus group last week, so things may change. But I sure do appreciate all of those who have taken the time to share their experiences with me!

Sorry to hear about the truck. And good on you for researching forums before buying.

I’m the guy in my family who everyone goes to for their research before buying a car. I’m a member of most car forums (in America) on the internet.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that Lexus vehicles will be more reliable than any other luxury brand. The reason for this is because they’re the last to bring technology to their automobiles. Long after the tech has been perfected by all the other brands, Lexus finally brings it to their buyers - who, naturally, never have a problem.

It’s really boring and behind the times. But it works.

I concur that Lexus is more durable, it is known for that. But Genesis is a lot more fun to drive and more luxury. Your choice.

I would love to buy another. The coupe! However, the temptation is severely tempered by the dealer experience. For that alone I will not buy again… unless I’m overcome by the GV90?!

My 21' now has 43k without any serious mechanical issues. There are also a few electrical gremlins, like seat settings, and a drivers mirror which changes occasionally when closing the door. My headlights are the worst low beam pattern I've had in 30 years, so I use the auto setting.

I absolutely love the road feel, good looks, open space and size, the quiet interior, and my choice of the 3.5t.

That said, they have closed one dealer (Hyundai where I purchased) and removed warranty service from my next closest dealer, even though it is a sister store of a stand alone Genesis. IMO the lack of a competent dealer network is Genesis's weakest link. Not enough places, parts, or trained techs to resolve gremlins. Clearly should have worked with Hyundai dealer network until they were ready. Were I the Galactic Commander I'd fire the guy who thought jumping to light speed before seat belts were on and tray tables were in their upright position, was a good idea!

Answer is currently no.
