  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Would you do it again

2014 V-6 Base purchased in March 2014.
It has been in the Dealership one time and that was for an oil change.
No issues at all.
GO FOR IT!
Earl

Thanks again for the assurance. What concerns me the most is consumer reports gave the 15 gen a very high 89 test score and a great review, it wont recommend it. When I COMTACTED THEM they said it had too many repair issues. I am really torn I know what I want but I HAVE BEEN WARNED. THANKS AGAIN MELLOW drives 2012 gen premium.

After 9 months and 9000+ miles I have no complaints or regrets:)

Emphatically yes. Are there things on the car that can be improved? Absolutely! But there isn't another car I would have chosen over it in its segment.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Regrets? I have a few, but then again, too few to mention.
But I will mention them anyway.
1. I regret that I didn't buy the 2015 Genny earlier instead of waiting until November.
2. I regret that I didn't get the ultimate package rather than the tech.
3. I regret that I didn't get a grey one rather than a red.
Man, after 17000 miles in 10 months, I love my Genesis.

Not only I would. I did it: 2 weeks ago took delivery of my 2015 Signature - santiago silver.
Wonderful car! Lots of value and very good Ts&Cs.
Not a single glitch in my 2012 (around 19K miles in 33 months)
Forums (forae?) record exceptions.
Nobody goes there to report a normal day.
I admire german cars but they are very prone to electrical glitches.
BTW I read somewhere that our console is produced by Continental (German Co) (very likely provider to premium brands there)

The poor dealer service is a fact. (not all, of course) but leasing for 36m and with light usage this is not a concern.
I definitely prefer to pay less for the car and not be in a elegant waiting room. I've been there no more than five times during my lease.
(use wifi, do my mail, read my kindle). Can handle it...

I am a subscriber to the Lexus forum. They do have more reliable cars, but , again, what you see there are the complains of the ones that face some problem.
Admittedly, their service IS better.
I cross shopped the ES-350 all the time before leasing my G2. My decision is an evidence of my conclusion.
Keep admiring their cars anyway.

I would do it all over again in a heart beat. Best car I have every purchased, driven and owned. By far exceeded every expectation I had before buying it. I spent months on this forum picking peoples brains and learning all things Genesis. When mine gets close to the 100,000 mile marker, I will be pulling it in my dealers lot and picking me up another one as long as they continue to have the V8 as an option.

No regrets. So far, it has made six 18 hour road trips much more relaxing and comfortable while approaching 30 mpg at 80 mph.

The 5.0 V8 is being discontinued after 2016.

This thread is making me feel more confident about buying a 2016. Thank you guys! I had begun to worry it was all highway vibration and incompetent service techs. The thought of buying any other car (in my price range) seemed like such a letdown.

My experience with the car, a 2015 fully loaded V6 to replace my 2012 has been really positive. The dealership has been especially positive.

Then, of course, there is Hyundai Finance who has our lease. It's difficult to fully elaborate on their incompetence in anything less than a short novel. To summarize: we have a collection agency calling every few months to settle our "debt". How pathetic we must be, eh? This occurs despite never missing a payment, despite a FICO score above 800, despite an error by Hyundai Finance where they misplaced records of a payoff. We won't even delve too deeply into the deal itself which was botched by Finance, incorrectly penalizing us for an early termination . . . solicited by the dealer . . . eventually corrected . . . with the predatory collection agency notified when the payment was lost . . by them . . . all despite Hyundai formally notifying us of $0 balance. Oh, has it been a few months? . . . this must be the collection agency checking in. A complete disaster that seemingly has no end.

Do we like the car? Love it. Do we care to get abused again? No, not really. Anyone deal with Lexus Finance?

Leasing can present many unexpected problems.

I leased a car a few years back - When my auto ins. was up for renewal a couple of months later - they (Amica) said the lease was actually an installment loan - and concluded three things:

1. It was "new" credit

2. I had a large outstanding balance (??)

3. I should accordingly have my ins. rates increased. Go figure.

Turning a leased car in at the end of the lease can present an entirely different set of problems.

People seem only to worry themselves about the details presented at the inception of a lease, though. The surprises come later.

I like the product. It's a good car in concept. (I've had 3 Genesis vehicles - all fully loaded V8, 09, 12, 15 MY variants)

However, all of the Genesis cars I've had, were prone to to one or more fairly major issues. I think I'm up to at least 100+ days in the shop for various quality issues.

In addition, the service experience is fairly mixed and not consistent from dealer to dealer. Regional office experience has been mixed as well. The overall quality has to improve.

That said, would I buy it again? I'm not sure. I value my time, and the issues are a headache. I've got pals with similar rides (E63, 550i, A6), that certainly drive more vigorously than me, that haven't had any issues.

Would I pay 10-20k more to get a car with a higher standard of quality not only on a vehicle level, but at the dealership/corporate level that has less issues? Absolutely.

Your experience years ago seems unusual. Your insurance company was trying to pull one over on you. End of lease experiences need not be bad - if you take normal care of the car, there should be no surprises. I have leased numerous cars and never had an issue with insurance or at lease turn in.

Whether leasing is a sound financial is an individual case by case story and usually has many opinions, but the actual term and closing are not as bad as your experience.

The leased car was immaculate - not the prob. And, there should be no surprises, but there certainly can be.

Such as redemption fees, $500 processing fees, and arbitrary damage charges.

The problem is: With a lease - you have to go back to a dealer when your time is up. With a purchase, there are many ways to get rid of a car. Again, with a lease, you're at the mercy of the dealer - in no way a good position to be in. With any transaction.

There is an "out" though -- there is nothing to stop you from forum shopping when you turn a car in. When a local ford dealer tried to zap me for $1000 in arbitrary fees (without even reading the orig. contract), I simply went to a different dealer out in the countryside - solved the prob.
