  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wrap seound warranty, cash in?

I’m selling shares in a bridge that I own in Brooklyn, but a cashed-in extended warranty wouldn’t be enough to purchase even one share.

It's true. I just bought 10 extended warranties for my 2013 RSpec @$2k a piece.
I walked out the door and back in and asked to cash them in @$10k a pop.
I took the $80k profit to the Checy dealer and paid cash for a C8 Corvette. Life is great.

I think the OP is confusing intrinsic value with actual value.

I think the OP is confusing intrinsic value with actual value.

In his OP he mentioned trade-in value so Hyundai/Kia and the dealer was just trying to get him to buy another vehicle. They were playing games with numbers and trying to say it was worth something more than it was and he just misunderstood or was led to believe something that wasn't true.

Not sure how you can misunderstand the words, what is my warranty and if I cancel it what is the cash value. I'm not confusing a damn thing. I dont have some made up perspective on the value of the warranty. I ain't going by what some dealer said. As I said 100 times already I am simply relaying what came straight from Hyundais mouth. So don't sit there and assume I'm gullible, confused, being taken by a sales person, have no logic or common sense. It doesnt make sense to me either but it's what I was told.

Then it is just a simple case of them not knowing what they are talking about.

Not in writing I’ll bet. And if not in writing what you understood them to say is worthless.

Sorry, but therein lies the rub. If I were told it was worth 10k by anyone, I'd laugh in their face because I know what it's worth. And in the obvious case you didn't (aka lack of knowledge/gullibility), we're the ones telling you it is NOT - we don't care who told you as they were reeling you in.

I understand your defensiveness, but as has been aptly stated (and repeatedly) above, you were fed BS and seem to believe what you were told. Quite simply, the Kia dealer wanted to roll you into something new. As for Hyundai Customer Care or whoever you spoke to on the phone, I can't say but they were also full of crap.

The HPP (Hyundai Protection Plan) is sub $4k at it's highest for the 10y/120m zero deductible plan. I was quoted ~$3700. Most out here have paid around $2-2500 for the 10/100. It is driven by VIN number and quoted by factors such as mileage, time remaining on base warranty, etc. And as with any ancillary add-on, it may add on some nominal resale value, but for the most part you are only purchasing peace of mind for yourself. So enough about this $10k warranty garbage.

Bottom line is you have a fine vehicle that is covered with a good warranty as problems arise. Enjoy it.

I fully believe you believe it. I'm also willing to believe it is what you were told. My suggestion was to sell it for $10K and buy another for $3K that does the same thing and profit off of it. There is no good reason not to.
