  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

One dealer in a suburb of Phoenix has 13 2012s on his lot, with pictures of each for verification. The entire 6.3 Million population of the DFW Metroplex has zero. Houston-zero. Austin/San Antonio-zero.

These are three of the top ten largest metropolitan areas in the US. We don't have a single 2012 sitting on a lot anywhere. Seriously, I checked the stock at every dealership within 100 miles of these cities. Nothing.

Murfreesboro, TN has 2012s. Texas nothing.

Depressing............

I agree. I'm ready for one, especially if I could get it for a Circle-like price! Bring 'em to Texas!!!

My guess is that they are imported via Ships that dock in either Long Beach, CA and somewhere on the East Coast. They are then shipped inland by train for distribution. It is a slow train to texas I guess.

I'm in Texas too and this is frustrating as hell.

I found this on another website; however, it does not necessarily mean that the Genesis was imported to all these ports of entry:

Hyundai currently [posted in 2008] has six ports of entry for US operations:

1. Baltimore, MD
2. Newark, NJ
3. Brunswick, GA
4. Portland, OR
5. Wilmington, CA [Long Beach]
6. Alliance, TX [inland commercial airport near Dallas/Ft Worth, presumably for parts only]

Found an article that claims that Philadelphia (as of 2010) is now Hyundai's preferred East Coast port of entry.

Most of the dealers I've checked are not putting their 2012 Genesis 3.8s on their on-line inventory. Or if they list a 2012 Genesis it is listed as having a 1.6L engine. Can't get a decent answer from the dealers as to why.

'cause they're probably trying to sell their old stock. I know my dealer is.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Man. That is sad.
In here there are 6 v8 2012 total and a lot more v6s in my area and it seems it is not selling well. They have been there for 3weeks now and still not sold yet.

Me? I'm waiting for Motozuma 30 day thing

It's interesting to me. When I moved back to LA I expected to see a lot of Genesis. But I haven't. I see quite a few 2009-2011 Acura TL's. That surprised me since it is universally reviled for its looks.

Based on observations here is a list of cars by number I've seen on the road:

Lexus IS 250 (a ton of these)
BMW (all sorts)
Mercedes (all sorts)
Infiniti G37
Acura TL
Lexus GS 350

And maybe 3 Genesis sedan in 3 months.

This is not a commentary from me. Just observations. I can't explain it. The IS 250 is by far the most popular car I see by sheer numbers here in LA.

I have not seen any V8's on the west coast. Most everything is on the east coast. Wassup with that.

The east coast is just "where its at":p. I'm rockin' my Titanium Grey 2012 V8 right now, sorry. The distribution is really uneven.

I bought my '12 V6 w/premium at Coconut Creek Hyundai in South Florida 2 weeks ago. Their website currently shows 45 '12 V6's, 3 '11 V6's, 10 '12 V8's and 6 '11 V8's in stock.

My guess: part of it is that the Hyundai nameplate not only lacks status, it almost has anti-status. :(

The other part is that most people who buy cars aren't car enthusiasts and simply have no clue that Hyundai offers cars like the Genesis and Equus. When it comes time to shop for a car, they just visit the usual suspects and it never occurs to them to stop in at a Hyundai showroom.

Both of these will be fixed with time, as long as Hyundai just continues to execute well.

^^^^

You're right. I forgot about Audi. Not to many of them either. Probably come in #4 on my informal list. And absolutely no old MB, BMW and Audis.
