  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey all.

I was curious because I am also getting the voice recognition freeze up everyone is talking about. I dont have XM activated yet, and was wondering if it is actually happening to all genesii with the tech pkg (or others with similar functions).

Software fix anytime soon?

Re: XM and DIS freeze up link

I have the 2010 v6 Tech 3000 mi. No problems yet XM is active.

Re: XM and DIS freeze up link

So it seems that XM needs to be active in order for voice recognition to work properly?

I have had XM from my purchase, Oct 2008, voice recognition has never worked properly. Dealer won't work on until Hyundai tells him how to repair. I usually don't trade for 5 years, but about every other week my wife tells me it seems like 5 years. She continually tell me Hyundai didn't put in voice recognition navigation input because their voice system didn't work and they knew it.

It is quite odd. Mine sometimes work. Can others comment about this? Quite frustrating. I don't think this is a hardware issue.

Re: XM and DIS freeze up link

Mine has always worked and worked very well.

The voice recognition is quite accurate except when the AC fan is at high speed. When I first start up on a hot summer day, I have to lower the fan speed temporarily to make a voice command.

And did you always have XM radio subscription?

If your DIS controller freezes up and even the on/off button on the head unit won't work, it is likely that the dealer will have to replace the amp in the trunk. Sometimes you get a "please wait" response when you push the voice button on the steering wheel, followed by about 3-5 minutes of total freeze-up. Often this is intermittent and will temporarily cure itself after a few minutes or upon re-starting the vehicle.

If this occurs, ask the dealer not to replace the amp with one from another vehicle as it may develop the same problem. I'm having occasional problems after a second head unit replacement and two amps, but the amp definitely seems to be the culprit.

Mine is working most of the time and the situation likely will stay that way because the dealer just gives me the "brush off" now. And I really don't have the time to sit in their lounge.

Went out for a ride last night and the DIS was completely frozen for about 20 minutes. Screen passed the Genesis logo, went to the warning and refused to budge. I forgot my phone, so bluetooth was not a culprit. If I pressed DIS buttons (FM, XM, Map, etc.) the input would show on the top and/or bottom lines of the display. Pressing the DIS nob did nothing. Finally I pressed it pretty hard and the display kicked in. It was mid-30's temperature-wise. First time it happened, but I'll be watching it. Anyone seen this?
