  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have an 09 4.6 with a Nav package. Randomly, I experience a clearing of the Category Filter. The Dealer has replaced my radio and nav controls with no improvement. Now it appears XM is transmitting a signal which Hyundai decodes as a clear. Hyundai seems to not want to address this problem with their XM Radio provider.

Read through the thread titled Have you had problems with your Genesis

and the following threads about basic stereo system issues:
Head Unit problems

No sound out of speakers

Many owners have reported problems with the Tech package:
* failing to "turn on" or just dying for no apparent reason; shut the car off for 20 minutes and it's perfectly normal again.

* XM loosing the channel list, or sometimes apparently loosing the subscription info completely for a few minutes (often until you shut the car off for 20+ minutes again)

* voice command locking up after the XM subscription expires

* etc.

The problem you described on your car is not unique... I've seen it a few times myself. Folks have had the main "head unit" replaced as well as the main amp unit (which is in the trunk); the amp unit is where the XM stuff lives by the way. So you may or may not have success if a dealer replaces those parts. Lots of folks with inconsistent systems had "remanufactured" amps installed... and kept having problems... until Hyundai finally sent a new amp. A recent posting mentions the latest amps now have "two chips instead of one" (for the XM or what?)... and that seems to help the voice command work properly after the XM subscription expires.
