  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all,

I recently ran into an incident with my XM Traffic not working, the icon disappeared off the main NAV screen and under options it was all greyed out (non selectable). I did the online resend signal and followed all the instructions as per XM's website, it did nothing to fix the problem. I called XM's customer support and apparently the traffic portion of it now requires a 1yr subscription and can no longer be paid for on a monthly basis if you have a lifetime XM Subscription plan.

Just thought to share in case anyone else has had their XM Traffic stop working all of a sudden. Within a minute or two of paying the yearly fee ($48) it was back up and running.

XM issue sucks.

Curious about your K&N filter. Do you like it and does it make a difference?

A simple air filter will not make any noticeable performance increase on a car.

The difference is, we will never buy another filter.

I don't know if it helps performance much, maybe a couple more HP's since the engine is breathing easier but the big advantage is I'll own it as long as I own the car without having to replace it. Just simple maintenance to the filter and it's good to go again for another 20k+ miles. Yes, I still check it during that time but it's always been fine going that distance between services.

Thanks! Any increase in mileage that you've noticed?

Maybe 1mpg on both ends, I average 18 city with a lot of stop/go and 28.5-30.3 on the highway which is better than the sticker says it should do.

Its been about 3 months since I first got the car as new. Speed coloring of traffic maps has stop working, all I see are purple highways. Is this really an XM traffic feature because I have to pay a subscription fee??

Thanks.

Use a K&N on my C5 Corvette. I find removing the filter, washing it in detergent, drying and then re-oiling it a pain in the backside. Nothing gained except a louder intake sound IMHO. More snake oil for our cars.

Ron, I would think your assessment is spot on. I don't own one, only drive 6K/year and don't see the advantage for me since I'd only change air filters once every two years. No obvious improvements in MPG or HP, so I'm gonna' stick with the good ol' paper filters for ~$18-$20 and change it myself.

No offense to anyone who owns one, but, for my situation it's not anything that would be beneficial.
