  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I must be doing something wrong. After I plug in my destination, I check the traffic feature, and anything the screen shows is 20-40 miles away or more from where I am or where I'm going. Of course then I pass construction or an accident, neither notated on my screen. I've only had my car a couple of weeks, and if I'm not mistaken, this feature is useless. They actually charge for this after 3 months on the 2010 ? Wow.

XM NavTraffic uses NAVTEQ Traffic as the service provider. It's fairly typical to have the data to be time delayed or missing, since there appears to be a significant delay between the telemetry appearing on the display. So it's common to be stuck in traffic before the route turns red, an incident shows up, or a traffic congestion warning is announced.

I won't be renewing it when my trial is up. But I hear others have gotten really good retention deals when they threaten to cancel, including free or discounted NavTraffic.

The traffic feature is not always accurate, or even up to date. Also, there are times when there is no traffic icon, so no traffic feature. Example: I am presently on the road, and today, I had no traffic feature for a few hours and a couple hundred miles, on I-10 in Florida. It did come back.
