  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 v8 5.0. The yellow DRLs/turn light bulbs keep going out every 6-12 months. The light wiring harnesses were replaced under warranty in 2020, but the problem persists. Have others seen similar? Any cures for this? Thank you

Yes, there has been a couple of threads on it. Do a search and you may find what others have done.

2015 V8 owner here also. If you're not using long life replacement bulbs, you can try those. They should last a little longer. Some have switched to LED with various rates of success. I've used LED in the past and while they lasted longer, they still need to be replaced sooner than I liked. I switched back to regular bulbs, long life variety and I've also taken to not running the DRLs all of the time and I manually turn the switch to have the led lighting in the headlights turned on during my daytime driving. Using the DRLs less will make them last longer, 😂

Just got my 2015 5.0 last year, and also heard about this problem. Some engineer on this site explained that Hyundai/Genesis were supposed to engineer a custom bulb that can both be a turn signal and a DRL, but they ran out of time and shipped it with a regular one. Sadly the regular bulb gets torched every 6 to 12 months.

Coming from an engineering background, I sympathized with this little foible and now just drive the car with the parking lights as it's DRL.

The car isn't stupid, so it won't kill its own battery or the like. I also think the parking-lights-as-drl look neat as f$%k.

BONUS: when you're on the freeway and switch from the gentle white parking lights to the bright orange DRLs--traffic freaking moves lol. It's like your car transformed from a stately Jaguar XJ to a Dodge Challenger Demon.

You can just not have your lights on auto. If you turn it on DRLs only, it uses the light band under the headlights. I personally just drive with my headlights always on. After I changed my bulbs twice in a month, I figured out that was the best option.

For some reason, they thought it'd be a great idea to use the indicators for the DRLs on Auto rather than the, y'know, actual DRLs.

Switch to the 1157A bulbs they use less wattage. The heat ends up killing the bulb bc they do double duty as a drl and turn signal. These run cooler a watt or 2 below the 2357a bulbs. 26.9w(1157a) vs the 28.5w(2357a). A bit dimmer but not noticeable. Or use the >< setting on the light stock.

Lmfao I thought it was only me!

Yeah it's great fun isn't it, lol. If only the sport mode activated a bypass valve on the mufflers to really sell that Jekyll / Hyde transformation!

Great suggestion! I'll switch out to those on top of using the >< setting and that should last a couple of years.

I chalk this up to a new brand's teething problems, makes the little foibles in an otherwise bargain-of-the-century car more endearing.

Ya picked the info surfing thru the forum. I want to add exhaust cut-outs but I live where the road is more salt than road lol. I know theres a magnaflow and borla catbacks you might be able to get them on new-old stock
