Yellow Key Light?

My 2015 Genesis won't start. Well, 2 days ago I ran to the store and it was fine, came out of the store 5 mins later and it wouldn't start. No sounds, just won't start. Then, next day it started, drove it home.... now it won't start again. I posted an earlier thread with all those details, but I did take a pic of the dash lights shown. The only one I can't figure out is the yellow one in the upper right -- it's a yellow car + key. Does that just mean the car recognizes the key? I know if the key fob battery were dead, I would have had a warning.

This is actually discussed in your owner's manual. Page 3-102 shows the light graphic and says that it is the "Immobilizer Indicator Light." There are a few paragraphs here and there in the manual that talk about it. It says it blinks when there is a malfunction and only suggests that you get a dealer to fix it.

Needs a dealer visit. Either the key is damaged (try using a different key?) or the smart key system has malfunctioned.

Also make sure you're not storing the key or the spare in/near the car. A second key with a nearly dead battery can cause this.

Interesting. thanks for the info. Have appt with dealer, hoping the car starts randomly again so I can drive it rather than tow it. thanks again.

If you need to start the car, you can try pressing the keyfob against the button when you press it. This is supposed to allow the car to be started with a dead keyfob battery, but it may still work in your case depending on the fault.

I don't believe that you have a keyfob problem. I have just experienced the same symptoms and it's not the key fob. Haven't fixed the problem yet.

Check your 12V battery connections. A loose connector can pass 'some' current to allow electronics to work, but cannot pass sufficient current to can the starter.

I had the same issue when I bought my car. I seemingly got to fix it by changing my battery. The last time it happened I moved my transmission from park to neutral and it started right up.

The battery is new bro! I already changed the starter and still doing the same, it starts like every 2 or 3 hours! I don’t know what to do bro!
