  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just picked up my new 4.6 black on black tech yesterday. Beautiful car. I gave back my Acura TL, which served me very well for the last 4 years. I will miss the Acura dealership. It was a very hard decision, but I loved the total package that spelt Genesis, and didn't like the 09 TL. My 2nd choice was an infiniti g35x from the same dealership owner.

Now that I have the car and have driven it longer than a test drive, I can truly say it is a superior vehicule and an amazing effort by Hyubdai to compete with the likes of Lexus and BMW, which the car obviously gets its design cues from.

I am a bit concerned on one level though, and that is the suspension. I really find it rides too firm for a luxo-cruiser and I feel the bumps way to much. With that the seats do not give the type of support I would like.

I am hoping that this is just an adjustment period from the seats of the TL which are stiffer.

On counterpoint, I did have a friend in the car last night who used to write the car column for my local newspaper. He drives a BMW 335ix. He loved the Genesis and said that it rode better than his BMW.

So now I am trying to figure out all the electonics and will start with the owners manual today!

Congratulations glickrick for your new ride.

Please post some pics of your car.

Congratulations, GlickRick! I believe you're our first v8 Genesis owner! I'm hearing complaints about the Genesis' ride being a bit stiff for a luxury car.. Unfortunately, this is how it had to be - otherwise, you probably would not have heard anything good about the vehicle. It's up to the media to hype-up a car enough to make it a success these days (sad, but true). In order for a vehicle to get a good review, it must drive similar to a BMW. Luckily, the Genesis isn't as stiff as most BMWs.. I have a feeling it's close to the 7-Series in that area...

Kudos on obtaining your new Genesis. I am really looking forward to your updates as time progresses. Hope you enjoy every minute of it.

i am envious of you..;)

what part of the world do you hail from??

Envy (also called invidiousness) may be defined as an emotion that "occurs when a person lacks another’s superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it."[1] from Wikipedia

I wish the V8's were in NJ but am happy for you that you have yours. Best of luck and good health and happiness.

The reason the V8's suspension is firmer was to prevent excessive body roll from a heavier car. I personally thought is was firmer than expected but I still like the fact that it can be driven spiritedly (is that even a word?) :)

BTW, congrats.... still waiting to hear from EdVoylesHyundai on a Satin White V8 :(

All:

Many thanks for the kind remarks. I live in Montreal, a city notorious for its potholes and suspension testing washerboards.

My Genesis drives like butter, yes creamy smooth butter over a rough whole wheat toast, however, I don't feel though that this car is up to a 750i suspension. It really is more like a japanese ride. I used to have a BMW 730i and when it hit bumps I heard: "tetunk, tetunk, tetunk, tetunk and the car stayed level. The genesis is a muted tunk tunk, but I feel the bumps below. Still, it rides better than my Acura, for sure.

The car has rain sensing windsheild wipers, which got tested today. Fabulous, they increased in speed as the rain came down harder (no I didn't go faster).

Backup camera is terrific, nightime or daytime as is map display.

My black with silver-hued accents looks exactly like the e-brochure. Go to the www.hyundaigenesis.com site and click on luxury, you wil find a brochure that you can flip through on the botton right hand side. There is a black Genesis on a 2 page spread.

The power on the car is amazing. Also, when I drove into my office garage today, the attendant loved the sound of the motor (I gave it a little gas). I just touch the pedal and the car is going 30MPH, a touch more and 60.

Quiet inside the car. Leather is definitely high end.

Turning circle is impressive. Tried it on the highway and was looking for curves, car hugged the road. Felt totally comfortable driving it from the first moment, feels like a sport car in handling. Very tight.

Salesman is following up with me on the remote. If anyone hears anything in this regard let me know!

My discovery process is still going on.

Glick, Check your tire pressure. I'm willing to bet it is over inflated.

What is the question about the remote? It's early, I must have missed it...
