YES your Genesis can SELF DRIVE!!!

Yes, Android Auto is not required. Basically any late model Hyundai, KIA, or Genesis that has Lane Keep Assist and Smart Cruise Control will work. I've read that even some with just Lane Departure Warning may work!
 
I believe they are working on an install guide now. It's really not to bad. You can easily make the connector yourself if you can do basic wiring. The computer end is pretty straightforward and the guys at Discord will help if you get stuck.

I think your way off your mark. Comma.AI seems wildly cool and I wouldn't have noticed it without this post. Good of him to share. Once my car comes back from the body shop, I'll be very interested in trying it out. Theres a ton of documentation out there if you don't trust the amazon links he provided.

I'm on the other side of the US :P

How does it work at low speeds? I've noticed it shows 19 mph for accel on the github. The stock system can do stop n go (tho kinda jerky honestly) and honestly thats the main use case for me since highway on normal LKAS is generally pretty decent lol.

Oem LKAS starts at 40mph. Separate system from the SCC stop and go.
 
So OP will use your stock SCC for stop and go (yes I use that a LOT in LA traffic....maybe not as smooth as me but better than me doing stop and go for an hour!).

Steering will only work (currently) at 40 mph or over as it follows the same rules as the LKAS regarding speed. There may be a workaround in the works but I hear it is complicated to wire...

LKAS....if you think its pretty good (and I guess it is compared to nothing) you will think it is garbage compared to OP. I would agree that it was about 85-90% there on the highway if all the stars lined up and it was working. OP lets me drive for 5.5 hours (or watch it drive) with minimal assistance from me and for me that is MAJOR impressive and super convenient!!

I can't think of too many things more luxurios than watching the car drive itself down the road. I pass all the expensive imports and think....you guys missed the boat LOL. The only real competitor would be Tesla and while I think they are super cool they can't (and shouldn't) go for 5.5 hours at a whack.

I have been looking at this technology and it seems they do not work on my 2015 Genesis. I looked about a month ago and it showed it was supported. Now, it stats that it is not supported and I can "manually add support" myself.

Somebody please chime in, I drive to Pittsburg once a month and this would be a great addition to an even greater car.

I have a 2015 Genesis sedan, the one in the video, and it works great. The requirements are that it have Lane Keep Assist.

I'm not sure if all Genesis did that year or not. But, if your Genesis will gently try to steer it's way back into the lane it will work. Also it uses the stock Smart Cruise Control.

So, uh, how is self-drive different from lanekeeping+radar cruise control?

Besides self-drive using AI analyzing the smartphone's video feed and lanekeeping+cruise control using some other sensors. Don't they both assist 99% of stop-go driving already? Is the experience better, or what?

Hyundai/Genesis LKAS will self cancel if you don't have your hands on the wheel for a time. It also cancels the cruise control and you are essential just coasting. Evidently this system bypasses the safety built into the existing unit.
Given the reliability of the LKAS reading the lines on the road, I'd not trust this system to keep me safe. Some roads are great, others, mot so much with disappearing lines or lines off to ramps and changes for construction.

I agree completely. I drive a lot on roads with lanes that’s come and go. Mix that with a lot of construction zone road marks that confuse the system, I never use the LKAS because it actually more dangerous. Now the smart cruise makes freeway drives much less stressful. I’m so glad those systems are separate.

This may be a stupid question but can LKAS be installed after the fact? I have just bought a 2015 Ultimate with 12000kms (Australia). None of the models released in Australia have LKAS (they do have lane departure) and I was suprised to learn that it was released in the US. Could I buy the necessary parts and plug into the existing wiring harness (if the necessary plugs exist)? Does anyone know what signs I would be looking for to know if its possible? If I could do this I would be very interested in having a play with the comma.ai system :)

I can’t believe it would be cost effective, you would need the camera, all the wiring, the computers, steering modules, new hud and dash cluster with the added features, if I had to guess $5000-$8000 USD not counting labor.

Given the reliability of LKAS I'd not trust it anyway. Sometimes it is fantastic, other times it allows me to drift off.
Australia though, does have a couple of cross country roads where you probably could sleep a couple of hours in any car that tracks straight.
