  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All--

I've shared other landmark experiences with you guys/gals, so here's another...exactly one year ago today, (August 2--it was a Saturday), I purchased and took delivery of my beloved Genesis--the first person to do so in the Knoxville, TN area, according to the selling dealer. (That's east TN, for those of you out of the region). I've got just under 20K miles, but there would have been more except for my last 'landmark'--a mild heart attack and bypass surgery that kept me off the roads for about two months. I still love driving it every chance I get. It still continues to catch people's attention when I'm stopped at a traffic light, fuel stop, etc.

One year later, some know what it is--but most still don't. The look on people's face when I tell them "It's a Hyundai!" is priceless!

My V6 Premier Plus pkg. Genny is Cabernet Red Pearl, w/black interior, except for the saddle "swoosh" across the dash. Aside from the issue with the audio (loss of EQ settings when adjusting the volume for the first time after startup, discussed elsewhere), this has been, and continues to be a great car, and by far, the best purchase of an automobile that I've made in a long time.

Congratulations to all of you who have also made the decision to purchase this fine piece of automotive artwork. Now that the US gov't is taking an ownership position in GM (aka "Government Motors"), we may have to stay 'outside of the beltway' when making our purchase decisions, if we want to own a vehicle that truly excites our expectations.

Please join me in celebrating a wonderful and exciting First Anniversary! Cheers!

PS: With regards to my previous "landmark", (the heart attack/surgery), I'm doing absolutely awesome. I've lost 40+ lbs., several inches off my waist line, changed my diet/exercise routine significantly, and lowered my blood pressure dramatically!! (And yes, I do own newer clothes--I had to...the older ones no longer fit)!!! Thanks to all of you who shared positive thoughts and prayers on my behalf back then (October-November '08). As a result, I'm doing well, and seemingly better than ever. The cardiologist, as well as the exercise physiologists/trainers I work out with are amazed at my progress regarding my health.

Thanks again to everyone. I'm pleased to be a part of such a successful, entertaining, and informative platform where we share a common bond of automotive interest and success.

Best Regards to all!

Congrats! I'm glad to hear you're doing better and that you still love your Genesis.

I recently hit the 1 year mark as well. See this thread: http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=2667&highlight=BOok+Genesis

When you get time, you need to post up some pics of your Genesis. I'd love to see an interior distance shot from outside the car to see how the cabernet red goes w/ the saddle brown. I'm sure it looks great! :)

And while you're at it, I found this the other day. I think this is the perfect drink for BOTH your new healthy lifestyle and to celebrate your Gen's 1st birthday. ;)

Thanks for the health tip! Seems I remember another posting about a Genesis wine that was being offered in S. Korea w/purchase...and from (most likely, if I remember correctly) a US winery! Ironic!

Here's a pic of the interior that I'd posted closer to the date of purchase. There are a few other pics under the thread "New Genesis Owner". It looks very similar now, but showing a little more signs of wear (just a little more) as it's my daily driver and I'm in and out of housing reconstruction sites (due to insurance losses like floods, fires, etc.).

I'll post up some newer pics...but not today...it's pouring down rain outside as we speak, and according to the weather channel, that's what we'll be seeing mostly this entire week!!

Thanks again....I appreciate your thoughts!

One year later...and still lovin' every minute of it!!

Thanks! I appreciate the good advice and well-wishes!

I encourage everyone I meet to really watch their diets, don't take yourself too seriously, exercise regularly, and when the stress of life gets to be too much to take...go out and get in your Genny, put all four windows down, open up the sunroof, turn on that Lexicon to your favorite station/CD, etc., and just go for a ride. I've done it a few times, and each and every time, it's so pleasant! I still get looks at traffic lights from women who like...(and men who are jealous....about the car, dude)!

Enjoyin' the ride....
