  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know all the numbers and testimonies regarding the V8, but I have to say, now that I've got a couple thousand miles on the 6, it's really loosening up and running pretty damn good.
There is a definite seat of the pants difference in performance compared to brand new and I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.
When you get on it hard from a stop, it really goes through the gears and gets up to speed pretty quickly.
I am more impressed with this motor with every passing week.
Looking forward to getting a couple of mods done and see what this thing will be like in the future!!! :D

I think you've reached the break in point. The transmission is also learning your driving style every time you step on the pedal.

It only gets better, trust me. I noticed after my first oil change the engine started to really hit it's stride. My only complaint is that the transmission is sometimes reluctant to downshift and gets confused. For instance, if you take off from a stop at a leisurely pace and then decide you want to speed up to pass someone you have to floor the accelerator all the way to get it downshift.

I agree, mine has just under 3K on her and the engine is just getting better and better. Gas mileage is improving too.

powerful enough to make me happy.

I re-read the Edmunds review of the V6 and they said it was only .4 seconds slower to 60, but also were quick to note that the "feel" of the V6 was better through the turns along with turning in a quicker slalom speed on their course.

I really am enjoying this motor!!!

Right now the V6 is indeed the engine of choice. I think Hyundai needs to rethink their electronic "softening" of the V8 to the point it fails to feel as strong as the V6. 375 hp and I couldn't get one to break the tires loose. That isn't right.
