  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Notice anything different about this Equus? Hint. Look at the trunklid when the reviewer moves to the back of the Equus.

Overall not a bad video tour of the car, seeing as he didn't have a camera man... That car has lots of bells and whistles.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
It looks good without Hyundai badges.. I really do hope Hyundai gets a luxury division going for it's better cars.. It may not be in our personal best interests, but it's best for theirs...

The rear "H" is the only "H" on or in the car, not one trace of Hyundai anywhere else. Though after reading NOLa's story of how she discovered the Genesis I can see why it's there.

(Unless you count the roadside assistance sticker...)

It sure does. Was nice to see him demo the door unlock without pushing buttons. It took me a week to figure out that I was actually locking an unlocked door by pushing the button. :o Coolest "bell" in my opinion.

My question is the Equus logo a dealer-installed option? Did the dealership remove the coporate "H" from the trunk lid? The guy who did this video also did the same video for a Black Noir Pearl with Cashmere leather in a signature model. If you scroll down on his selection of videos you will see it. Pretty impressive.

Hyundai should start a luxury division and call it Centennial Motors. The Equus horse could be the division logo.

Whoever bought this car is not very bright or has no class.

If I had a dealer like "Bob" try to engrave his ugly dealership on my car I would tell him to remove it or pay $10,000 for advertising his dealership. Never buy a car with a dealers name on it unless he pays or discounts you big!

A dealer hasn't tried that BS in California since the 80's. I used to live in NC. I know the people are smarter than that.

The "H" is bad enough. Everyone identifies it with Hyundai.. I say something similar about Cadillac all the time. I believe Cadillac owners should have attained a certain level of success in order to own one. I don't think it should be the 'discount' luxury brand that it is today. If that means I can no longer afford a Cadillac, so be it. I think it's what's best for the brand. Less customers paying more money means less headaches than more customers paying less money. Owning a Cadillac should be about owner a car AND a 'lifestyle'. That's what makes BMW and Mercedes so successful. I think the same goes for Hyundai's new luxury offerings like the Genesis and Equus. I believe Hyundai should have a luxury brand to sell these vehicles under...

Centennial Motors. What a great name for a luxury brand!

Thank you for the nice compliment. If Hyundai monitors this website I hope they don't steal it!! In reference to the gentleman who said not to buy a car with the dealer name on it, here in PA all dealerships do it. It is usually just a self-adhesive sticker that can be easily removed.

The "swooshy H" is just plain ugly and befitting on a luxury auto (heck, it's even ugly on Hyundai's mainstream models).

Hyundai should've just used an Equus badge at trunklid and used Hyundai lettering somewhere along the rear to show that it's a Hyundai.

You're too late.

The Equus in Middle Eastern markets goes by the name of the Centennial and the 1st gen Equus was also sold in some European markets (in very limited nos.) as the Centennial.

A luxury brand and a separate dealer network would mean a higher MSRP - say, around $7-8K for the Genesis sedan and $10-12K for the Equus.

Might gain some sales due to the separate brand/dealer network, but would also lose some sales due to the higher prices.

A luxury brand may very well happen, but wouldn't make (financial) sense until Hyundai had a fuller lineup ready for a separate brand (smaller 3 Series fighter and at least 1 CUV).

As far as increasing sales, getting available AWD for the Genesis and Equus will do a lot more than a separate brand/dealer network.

I like your points - I would also like to add that I read somewhere it would cost Hyundai anywhere from an estimated half a billion to a couple of billion dollars to get that brand (and its respective dealer network) going. Not exactly chump change. I'm sure their finance folks have done their due diligence and cost/benefit analysis.

They don't even need to use the word "Hyundai" anymore on their luxury cars. I you look around other luxury brands, Lexus, Mercedes, and others are dropping the name on the trunk lid and just using the coporate symbol and model number. My 2010 Lexus IS says "Lexus" on the trunklid but this has been removed from all Lexus models for 2011. Salesperson says it is for cost-cutting purposes.

^ Yes, but if Hyundai isn't to put their ugly badge anywhere on the Equus than they would have to put the HYUNDAI lettering somewhere on the vehicle, otherwise people would have no idea that it is a Hyundai and accusations that Hyundai is "too embarrassed" to put their name/badge on the car would fly.
